The New York Times is reporting that Disney has started production on a new Star Wars animated series. The television series will be called Star Wars Rebels and will be set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Disney described the series as taking place "in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape."
The series is being worked on by an all star team of producers, which include Greg Weisman (Young Justice), Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class) and Dave Filoni, the supervising director from the recently departed Star Wars: The Clone Wars series.
The series one hour pilot will debut on the Disney Channel in 2014 before jumping over to Disney XD for follow up episodes.
Honestly, there's not much detail about whom will star in the series or the voice actors attached, but I'm sure we'll learn more in the coming weeks.
