Vin Diesel confirms the hard rumor that he will be voicing Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Often we are so accurate it is frightening. Though everyone was fairly certain of Diesel's role after he posted an image of Groot on his Facebook page, we decided to add onto that and just days ago we published a fun "interview" with Vin Diesel about him in full Groot character. Now it looks like the actor is confirming the casting, telling fans we'll be hearing him say "I am Groot" officially come August 1st.
He spoke with the LA Times recently and they asked, "Why Groot?"
As an actor, not everything has to be the most obvious choice. And sometimes, the best thing you can do — as far as Steven Spielberg and his advice — is to defy expectations. So if everybody thinks you’re going to go for this one thing and you flip it entirely and go for the strangest Marvel character, it’s interesting. And when something is interesting, it’s inspiring.
After posting the of Groot this weekend, they asked if Marvel was upset that he was dropping hints. Diesel went on to talk about how he was blasted with questions at his Hall H SDCC appearance and didn't say a word and the last thing Marvel has been is mad that he is promoting the movie. With the film itself halfway through shooting already, the role seems to be a perfect fit for Diesel's busy schedule.
The audience wanted Vin and Marvel, Vin and Marvel. But I’m too busy to do a six-month role. So what Marvel came up with was really interesting. … I am watching a social wave influence and in some ways guide their thinking.
