Earlier today, popular DC Comics writer Jeff Lemire announced on his blog that his upcoming Justice League of America replacement, Justice League Canada, would be renamed Justice League United. Lemire didn't give a reason for the change, but a source close to the project told The Outhouse that focus testing and preorders showed that the book was doing very poorly with the important moose demographic, which makes up over 40% of the population of Canada.
"DC had projected that moose interest would be very strong in this title, but it turns out that mooses were almost entirely uninterested in purchasing or reading a Justice League Canada comic, eh?" our source told us, adding that mooses are "fucking hosers" and that they should "take off."
According to the source, Mooses polled about the book almost universally ranked consuming many types of plant material like leaves and twigs, engaging in polygamous mating activity, and avoiding predators such as wolves and bears as more important than reading the latest issue of Justice League Canada.
"Those are just random facts about mooses that you got off Wikipedia, " explained Professor Thaddeus T. Puffinbottoms, Head of the Comic Book Reading Habits in Ruminant Mammals Department at the prestigious University of Phoenix. Puffinbottoms added that, while "mooses" is the traditional plural form of "moose," it is more common to use "moose" or "meese" when describing more than one of the animal.
Though the news is disappointing for fans of comics with the word Canada in the title, it's clear that the book's premise, which will see the team of Animal Man, Green Arrow, Stargirl, Martian Manhunter, Adam Strange, Supergirl, Alanna Strange, and Hawkman spending half of their time in the Great White North, and half in outer space having epic adventures, is likely to appeal both to mooses and to a wider audience of other mammals, such as humans.
Asked for comment, Canadian President Bret "The Hitman" Hart informed The Outhouse that he's the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, but we're not sure what that has to do with anything, honestly, and think he should take statements about comic books more seriously.
Lemire has an interview on USA Today if you want to know more about this. Justice League
Canada United will launch in April with a juicy #0 issue.
