Senior TV Columnist Nightfly offers a List review of his preferred picks from the previous week of primetime programming.

TV Week in Review (week of 3/13/11)

This week marks the beginning of my Week in Review column transforming into more of a List Review of my preferred picks of the previous week's primetime offerings.  Bonafide episodic reviews (lengthy recaps and/or critiques) will likely not be included from now on in favor of expanding each category, eliminating spoilers, and affording me more time for additional projects/assignments.  As always I'll be available to discuss shows and will be happy to share my views regarding individual episodes within the thread (comment section) for this entry.  Despite the growing length of my recent review columns I began feeling my recaps & reviews had become repetitive.  Whether or not I resume including opinion-filled reviews is up in the air, but, if only to recharge the creative juices I believe I need to take a break from them for awhile.  Obviously if a show makes my Lists it's because I felt it was outstanding among its peers that week.

Top 7 Scripted List:
7. Breakout Kings - "Collected" (A&E)
6. Justified - "Blaze of Glory" (FX)
5. CSI: Miami - "Hunting Ground" (CBS)
4. Private Practice - "Love and Lies" (ABC)
3. Bones - "The Blackout in the Blizzard" (FOX)
2. Glee - "Original Song" (FOX)
1. V - "Mother's Day" (ABC)

Teen Beat Pick of the Week: iCarly - "iPity the Nevel" (nick)
Guest Star(s) of the Week: Cheech & Chong on The Simpsons (FOX)
The Simpsons
Cheech & Chong guest in "A Midsummer's Nice Dreams"
Trivia Questions of the Week:
1) Homer Simpson replaced Chong as Cheech's comedy partner in this week's The Simpsons.  Under what duo name did Homer and Cheech perform?  [answered]
2) Name the (blindness causing) congenital disaease featured in this week's touching episode of Bones[answered]

Current Medal Standing:

~ Last week's answer: Jayma Mays  (Winner: BlueStreak)
Outstanding Sitcoms:
5. The Simpsons - "A Midsummer's Nice Dreams" (FOX)
4. Mr. Sunshine - "Lingerie Football" (ABC)
3. Raising Hope - "Mongooses" (FOX)
2. Parks and Recreation - "Harvest Festival" (NBC)
1. 30 Rock - "Queen of Jordan" (NBC)
Reality Shows:
4. Top Chef: All-Stars - "Island Fever" (Bravo)
3. Top Shot - "Bury the Hatchet" (History)
2. Face Off - "Twisted Tales" (Syfy)
1. Top Gear (BBC-America)

Lots of repeats reduced the number of shows I usually screen, but of the twenty-three and a half hours of primetime programming watched this week the two (2) shows coming closest to making my Scripted List were; Fringe, and Fairly Legal. Traffic Light and Mad Love nearly made my Sitcoms List.

Glee fans should make sure not to miss this week's Behind The Glee, and Top Shot viewers might enjoy this informative Weapons Rundown clip about tomahawks from "Bury the Hatchet."

Thanks for your ongoing support and understanding in this restructuring.  I apologize for this column's minimalist state but I felt I needed to pull way back before moving forward.  Have a great week.  Be Well & Happy Viewing!
