Nightfly's TV Week in Review 4/17/11 - Doctor Who, 30 Rock & more!

Senior TV Columnist Nightfly lists his preferred picks from the previous week of primetime programming.

TV Week in Review
(week of 4/17/11)

The only network to score two spots on my hour long Scripted List this week was the CW; no network landed more than one slot in my Reality Shows category. NBC and ABC both own the Sitcom category this week, with ABC garnering three fifths of the entries and NBC claiming the top two comedic slots. Episode 2 of Mortal Kombat's web series takes Kano and Jax to the next level, Ke$ha guest stars in the Teen Beat Pick of the Week, and I tried something new this time out by adding clips for all the Outstanding Sitcoms and Reality Show honorees. Now onto my preferred picks for last week...

7. Hawaii Five-0 - "Ho'opa'i" (CBS)
6. Glee - "A Night of Neglect" (FOX)

5. Justified - "Full Commitment" (FX)
4. Hellcats - "Woke Up Dead" (CW)
3. Nikita - "Girl's Best Friend" (CW)
2. Game of Thrones - "Winter Is Coming" (HBO)
1. Doctor Who - "The Impossible Astronaut" (BBC-America)

prequel webisode to this week's thrilling DW premiere.

Outhouser Always Right on DW's premiere...:
"Those aliens are [expletive deleted] terrifying."

Teen Beat Pick of the Week
: Victorious - "Ice Cream for Ke$ha" (nick)

Of the thirty-two and a half hours of primetime programming watched to compile this column, the dramas coming closest to making this week's Scripted List were Smallville (introducing Booster Gold & Blue Beetle), Breakout Kings, Desperate Housewives, and a fairly epic episode of Fringe.  Comedies just missing my Outstanding Sitcoms list this week include Breaking In, Traffic Light, HIMYM, and Happy Endings (introducing Michael Mosley to the show as Malcolm).  The reality shows almost making my Reality List this column were Top Shot, CMT's Next Superstar, Human Planet, and Monster Bug Wars.

Hope you enjoyed Doctor Who's return this week as much as I did. Be Well & Happy Viewing!
