Nightfly lists his preferred picks from the previous week of primetime programming.
TV Week in Review (week of 6/19/11)
Welcome to another Week in Review! This past week was an epic one; Game of Thrones topped my Scripted List for the third consecutive week with its gripping freshman season finale. Fave recent series such as The Glee Project, Teen Wolf, Through the Wormhole, and Celebrity Close Calls all maintained unbroken streaks of never having missed my Lists. It's a safe bet Falling Skies will also become a mainstay as well. Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution didn't just consistently list *every* episode, it (according to my records) owned the #1 slot in my Reality Shows category *every* week it aired. I didn't watch any of its epis last season, but this season Hot in Cleveland & new series Happily Divorced have both made my list every airing and HiC climbed to the top Summer Sitcoms slot this week!
While I've come up wanting (again) for a Webisode of the Week selection, I tried to compensate with ties in both the Guest Star & New Music Video of the Week categories. Plus I threw in two honorable mention music vids below for good measure. And, in lieu of a web series, I can recommend you jump onboard the web comics for Teen Wolf & Falling Skies available online now.
This upcoming week, beginning tonight (6/26), is a very eventful one filled with finales & premieres. Most notable of tonight's premieres is the long awaited return of HBO's mega-hit True Blood! Also noteworthy tonight are the premieres of Leverage, The Marriage Ref & Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Tonight (6/26) Law & Order: Criminal Intent airs its series finale, Underbelly reportedly airs its season finale (I don't know for sure because I don't have DirecTV), and BET spotlights its arrivals-through-afterparty coverage of the 2011 BET Awards. Tomorrow (Mon 6/27) boasts the season premieres of Showtime's Weeds & The Big C, as well as the series premiere of My Babysitter's a Vampire (on Disney). Wednesday welcomes Royal Pains, Melissa & Joey, and VH1's Behind the Music back to the schedule, while The Voice airs its finale results show that same night. Wednesday (6/29) additionally rolls out the series premieres of both Necessary Roughness (on USA) & State of Georgia (on ABC-Family). Extreme Chef (on the Food Network) makes its series debut Thursday (6/30), while, Ugly Americans & Wicked Attraction return with their season premieres. And that's not even mentioning Friday or Saturday, hehe.

From thirty-seven hours of watched programming, the remarkable dramas Switched at Birth, White Collar, Combat Hospital, Burn Notice & HawthoRNe barely missed my hour-long Scripted List. Being summer, there was of course no shortage of reality shows - this week honorable mentions go to Hollywood Treasure, Ice Loves Coco, UnSung, Platinum Hit, & Rocco's Dinner Party (guest starring D.L. Hughley & Padma Lakshmi).
I'm still lookin' out for just the right Web Series to feature (ideally starting w/ its premiere webisode). If you hear of any new ones or have any favorites please let me know. On a related note, awesome gamer-babe Tara Platt, a mutual follow on twitter, is currently hard at work shooting a soon to debut web series called Shelf Life. SL is about the lives of action figures perched on a young boy's shelf. Keep abreast of news and updates by following SL on twitter or friending it on Facebook. Tara plays superheroine Hero Lass!
Besides my music video picks of the week by Britney & Shania, teen superstar Selena Gomez and Los Angeles based rockband Rival Sons also released exceptional videos this past week too. Enjoy.
Selena Gomez - "Love You Like A Love Song"
Rival Sons - "Pressure and Time"
If you're curious to know all the shows I watched to compile this column, and honestly, I missed a handful I'd meant to see, click here.
Before closing out this WiR column I wanted to share in the celebratory enthusiasm for J.K. Rowling's latest brilliant creation, Pottermore. If you haven't seen Rowling's video announcement yet, watch it below. While not opening till October, today's email registrants may be selected as one of the lucky million granted earlier (beta-tester) access. Register now at Pottermore then make sure to check back July 31st (Harry's birthday) to learn if an owl has a special delivery for you.
Wise wizards follow Pottermore on twitter.
As this column's lengthy opening paragraphs illuminate, there are a lot of premieres & finales airing this week (of 6/26). Keep up to date on what's on every night by checking out my daily Primetime polls and, in case you weren't aware, I post a movie poll each weekend wherein you can learn what may (or may not) be showing in a theater or on Pay-per-View in your area.
Try to stay in the shade if your region's as hot as mine. Be Well & Happy Viewing!
