Nightfly lists his preferred picks from the previous week of primetime programming.

TV Week in Review
(week of 7/31/11)

I doubt my choices shocked anyone this week, except perhaps in the Summer Sitcoms area. ABC-Family aired a marathon of new State of Georgia episodes that managed to squeeze out some shows that've been routine honorees in that category. Syfy's Warehouse 13 not only made my Scripted List for a third consecutive week, this time it also scored my Guest Star of the Week title. And not at all surprisingly, True Blood once again claims ownership of my Top of the List honor.
I'm not aware of any major premieres or finales to tell you about for the upcoming tv week. And though I don't have a Webisode of the Week featured this time I'm hoping to have one here for you next week. My Favorite *New* Music Video of the Week pick ended up being a tie.
Now onto my favorite shows from last week...

Forty-six hours of eligible primetime programming was watched this week to compile my column, and I actually missed a couple reality shows I usually watch. That's right up there with the number of hours watched per week during the fall rollout; summer tv really is like a full second season (at least during certain weeks). In this highly competitive week The Nine Lives of Chloe King, HawthoRNe, Alphas, Rizzoli & Isles, and Combat Hospital all came closest to making my hour-long Scripted List. Very nearly joining my Summer Sitcoms List were Happily Divorced, Hot in Cleveland, and Good Luck Charlie. The competition among reality shows is never tougher than during the summer and from the sea of shows to choose from, Secrets From a Stylist, UnSung, (the series premiere of) Born to Dance, (the season finale of) Gordon Ramsay's Great Escape, and, Flipping Out just missed placing on my vaunted Reality Shows List.
Several outstanding guest stars didn't make my choice for Guest Star of the Week very easy,... the shortest list included Tricia Helfer (on the freshman season finale of Franklin & Bash), Adam Beach (on an over all excellent episode of Combat Hospital), Max Martini (emotionally affecting on Rizzoli & Isles), and the super-talented Bob Balaban bringing extra funny to Web Therapy.

The latest D23's Disney Geek came out this past week, with Jeffrey Epstein offering pre-event coverage of Disney's ultimate upcoming fan event D23 Expo (August 19-21, Anaheim Ca.). BTW, you don't have to be a D23 member to attend although members do enjoy discount pricing on tickets and merchandise. The upcoming films Oz the Great and Powerful and The Muppets also get mentioned in this enjoyable update of all things Disney.

This upcoming Friday (8/12) Glee fans won't want to miss Glee: The 3D Concert Movie. I'm definitely eager to see it! And it's only released for a two-week limited run. Check out the fillm's entertaining trailer (below).

A complete list of all shows viewed for this WiR column can be seen here.
