Nightfly lists his preferred picks from the previous week of primetime programming.

TV Week in Review (week of 9/25/11)

With most Fall shows now up and running this past week really delivered some incredible TV. I really didn't have an easy time selecting these lists. Congrats go to the CW (taking 3 of 7 Scripted 1hr slots), CBS (earning 3 of 7 Outstanding Sitcoms spots), The History Channel (only net to slot twice in the Reality Shows section, plus a fifth consecutive appearance for Ancient Aliens), and Nickelodeon (taking 3 of the 5 Favorite Teen Shows spots) for earning domination in their various categories. Doctor Who lays claim to this week's Top of List again (second week in-a-row) due to its fantastic season finale, as does Star Wars: The Clone Wars again in its Teen category. This column features the series premieres of Terra Nova & Hart of Dixie, a third consecutive appearance of Ringer, and the return of Nikita for the first time this season.
Tonight make sure to catch the 2hr season finale of Warehouse 13 and the sure-to-be outrageous season premiere of House.

So, this week I watched fifty full hours of primetime programming to compile this column; thirty-one hours spent just on scripted dramas alone. NCIS: L.A., the season finales of Haven & Alphas, and the season premieres of Boardwalk Empire, Desperate Housewives, and CSI: Miami all barely missed my main Scripted List. iCarly, The Office, Two and a Half Men, the season premiere of The Simpsons, and the series premiere of How to Be a Gentleman almost made my Sitcoms List, while, A.N.T. Farm, Good Luck Charlie, and Shake It Up came closest to ranking on my Favorite Teen Shows list. Believe it not, I viewed few enough reality shows this week that I only watched three that didn't earn slots in my column; Project Runway, Quirky, and Unleashed by Garo.

Guest stars impressing me this week got sorta complicated as a good number of the best appear to be taking supporting roles on their respective shows and my Guest Star of the Week honor is primarily reserved for walk-ons. But those waters are often murky in the TV world these days. That said, these praiseworthy guests all came really close to snagging this week's honor; John Pyper-Ferguson (on Fringe), Kathleen Munroe (on Alphas), Julie McNiven (on Nikita), Emily Bergl (on Hawaii Five-O), and Kiefer Sutherland (on an unusually violent episode of The Simpsons).

For this week's movie clips I decided to feature a flick I've seemingly been waiting for my whole life. I was born a handful of years after Rock'em Sock'em Robots hit the market but I honestly can't remember my childhood without that fun 'action' game being around. Fortysomething years later, enter Real Steel (in theaters this Friday 10/7).

And any longtime reader of mine knows I'll never stop crushing on Katherine Heigl. A trailer for her next movie One For The Money (scheduled for a January 2012 release) hit the web this past week and it looks like one I'll especially like. Check it out (below).

Before I close this column out I promised you all some GetGlue links. Watch the trailers for these films and you'll get glue; Ghostbusters, Immortals, Dirty Girl, Melancholia, Trespass (starring Cage & Kidman), Three Musketeers, and X-Men First Class & Thor on Blu-Ray. And a special for the twihards click here to get a couple stickers for Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Pt.1. For TV, here are some stickers for upcoming premieres of Enlightened (HBO), Last Man Standing (ABC), Bored to Death (HBO) and one for House's premiere tonight.
I don't think I'll have as many GetGlue links to share next week but I'll try to include sticker links in each week's column going forward. I still haven't got my first physical pack yet; I have no idea what I'm gonna put 'em on. Any suggestions? Where do you 'proudly share' your GetGlue rewards?

That's all folks. Oh yeah, before I go, I mentioned a possible announcement in my previous column... well, since I've now officially published my first Q&A for them, I'm happy to share the news that I've been welcomed onto the writing staff of TV Over Mind; one of my all-time favorite TV websites. My Week in Review column will continue being published here at The Outhouse (along with other stuff) but from now on you can also read my contributions to TVOM if you'd like. Here's one published today for Warehouse 13's 2hr. season finale tonight. Thanks to all of you who've been with me as I've practiced the craft of writing here. Wherever my future may take me I'll always be grateful and loyal to you who've supported me up till now. Have a great week, Be Well & Happy Viewing!
