Chasing The Matrix:
Nightfly's Music Video Week in Review (week of 10/30/11)

Call it humorously ironic, or inconveniently coincidental, but both weeks I've written this colunm were weeks I'd call "light" in regards to volume of videos released. Merely by following CMT on twitter I'm usually alerted to five-to-ten new country video releases per week; this week I think they possibly tweeted about one. Last week they released less than a handful as well. No doubt my primary source for new music videos is VEVO and even they've had less new releases to feature than in most previous weeks. It hasn't and won't deter me from this new music video column but it's made me realize that some weeks may actually yield too few vids to merit a column... but that hasn't happened yet.
I can't say I'm happy about it, but right off the bat there's a video featured [near the close of this column] that somehow eluded my attention last week. Had I known of it at the time I would've included it in my inaugural entry.
Like last week, I've again named two winners for Favorite Video of the Week, and I chose them based on 'creativity of concept.' FTR, most of my winners will be based predominantly on the creativity of a video's concept over lyrical content or musical quality, genre, etc. As tough as it was for me to pick an over-all winner for this installment I had an even tougher time trying to name just one Runner Up. If my column wasn't prejudiced towards Creativity the three runner-up videos could've easily been [tied] winners.
I only have one GetGlue sticker to point you towards this week. Assuming you're a Rihanna fan, you can claim this Coming Soon sticker promoting her upcoming Talk That Talk album (hitting shelves 11/21).

It begins (in alphabetical order, except for the winners)....
* Warning: videos below may contain mature content not suitable for all ages *

"Am I A Fool" by Kim Waters (ft. Calvin Richardson)  {released 11/1 via VEVO}

"Fade Into Me" by David Cook  {released 11/1 via VEVO}

"The Fear" by Ben Howard  {released 11/2 via VEVO}

"Heartaches & Pain" by Charles Bradley (ft. Menahan Street Band)  {released 11/1 via VEVO}

Abbey Dawn

Fave *New* Music Video(s) of the Week: [tie]
"The Falcons" by Patrick Wolf  {released 11/4 via VEVO}

"On My Mind" by Joker (ft. William Cartwright)  {released 11/1 via VEVO}

Runners Up: [tie]
"Disaster" by JoJo  {released 11/1 via VEVO}

"Make You Say Ooh" by Keith Sweat  {released 11/4 via VEVO}

"Suave (Kiss Me)" by Nayer (ft. Pitbull & Mohombi)  {released 10/31 via VEVO}

Andrew Charles

"Girls Talkin' Bout" by Mindless Behavior  {released 10/31 via VEVO}

"Meet Me in the Barn" by Jason Michael Carroll  {released 10/31 via CMT}

"Sheet Of Night" by John Mark McMillan  {released 11/1 via VEVO}

"Starlight" by Matt Cardle  {released 11/2 via VEVO}

This video embarrassingly eluded my attention last week. Whenever such oversights occur I'll always post the worthy videos in the following or subsequent weeks depending on when I'm made aware of them. This week, thankfully, there's only this one that I know of.

"We're All No One" by NERVO  {released 10/28 via VEVO}

And just for fun, since there's not as many videos to highlight as I'd like, I decided to finally embed some Runner Up vids from last month that appeared in my TV Week in Review column as text links only. These three actually all appeared together in the same column. In my opinion all three definitely deserve a second look. Enjoy.

"Footloose" by Blake Shelton  {released 10/7 via CMT}

"Shake It Out" by Florence + the Machine  {released 10/2 via VEVO}

"The Walk" by Mayer Hawthorne
  {released 10/5 via VEVO} [TV-MA]

Thanks for checking out my second music video column, I really appreciate your interest and look forward to many more weeks sharing tunes. Until next time, do me a personal favor and Have a Great Week & Keep Your Groove On!
