Nightfly's Music Video Week in Review (week of 11/6/11)
This week I'm happy to report a fair number of music videos were released which, though technically making my job harder, makes me happy in that having more choices is always better than having less. Being a semi-pro musician in my younger days, I like to imagine myself a mogul watching submissions from new and established artists each week as I compile these columns. My music WiR needs 12-15 new tunes to highlight each week so there's certainly aspects of supply & demand that come in to play,... naturally, weeks that offer more options allow me to produce a more discerning list. This week suffered a significant lack of country contributions from CMT but it's not new news that their number of releases varies widely each week; this column reflects another notably lean week.
Before moving onto the numerous videos spotlighted in this WiR entry, I thought I'd share a couple special videos I didn't think belonged in regular competition. First up is an empowering Adele mashup by the cast of Glee followed by the Dixie Chicks' defiantly moving anthem, "Not Ready To Make Nice", excerpted from their VH1 Storytellers episode [out on DVD 11/29]. Adele also has a must-own DVD hitting shelves 11/29 titled, Adele Live at The Royal Albert Hall.
Featured towards the bottom of this column - also out of competition - are a couple newly released Christmas vids, a make-up catch from the week before last, and a comedically uninformative DVD teaser trailer.
This Glee performance is from tomorrow's new episode titled, "Mash-Off." Watch the sensational video (below) then check out its Behind the Scenes clip featuring Naya Rivera and the cast talking about filming this, the show's 300th, song here.
