Nightfly's iTV Week in Review  (week of 2/26/12)
...transferring data now...

As a person who gives credit where credit is due, I'd like to start this week's column with a nod to web series curator, Web Series Directory. Much like the sources cited in my first couple columns, Web Series Directory has fast become an invaluable resource for compiling my weekly column. IGN up'd their webisode game by creating a brand new YouTube channel, called START, dedicated web series and online reports. Read what lovely Jess Chobot has to say about START and her new series on it here.

Last week I mentioned the PBS Online Film Festival which'll bring twenty original short films competing for your votes and, as promised, its first week ushered in a compelling first four competitors. I honestly didn't watch the longest one, titled Once Upon a Rooftop (about Hong Kong rooftop dwellers), not because of indifference but only because I haven't carved out the half hour yet. The moving short, I Survived, featuring Sgt. Tapia recalling being blown up and trapped (on fire) is likely to affect you deeply,... while the remaining two shorts concern vanishing industries and interests. I appreciated both business related clips but being a music fan I preferred the one I embedded over the other one, titled Seltzer Works.
The Archive, featuring Paul Mawhinney presenting his truly incredible record collection that he can't find a home for.

* This week's new shorts (collectively addressing "Growing Pains") are already up but you can still vote for your favorites from last week, all filed under the label "Real Stories."

Black Diamond - Explosive Ski Run  is a cool little clip that popped up last Friday and successfully grabbed my attention. This death defying clip even sports a complimentary BTS Making Of vid to with it. Enjoy.

* watch the BTS Making of this video here.

CBS' web series, Anatomy of a TV Hit: C.S.I., is still dissecting the "Stealing Home" episode - in the seventh (and most recent) entry it's all about "Makeup and Special Effects Makeup for "Stealing Home.""

Now onto my preferred picks from last week.
