Nightfly lists his preferred picks from primetime TV and the world of entertainment.

TV Week in Review
  (week of 4/1/12)

FOX definitely had a good week last week, slotting thrice on both my half-hour and hour-long lists and taking the Top Spot in the latter. ABC slotted twice in my hour-long list and NBC scored two spots on my half-hour list. The only net to slot twice on my Reality Shows list was E! Entertainment though PBS claimed that section's Top Spot thanks to the story of muppeteer Kevin Clash. Nickelodeon's musical hit sitcom How to Rock deserves mention not only for beating out its more established teen competition but also for topping major series to earn its way onto my main half-hour list for the first time ever.

Multiple shows and specials premiere this week starting with the NewNowNext Awards 2012 airing tonite (4/9). Tomorrow night reality series Shannen Says and Dream Machines (now viewable OnDemand) debut while fan favorite Deadliest Catch also returns with its new season premiere. Tuesday further brings the premiere of BIO Channel's newest Biography, this one about Glee: Keep on Believin' - read about it and watch a preview clip for it here. On Wednesday (4/11) PBS premieres the first part (of four) of America Revealed plus the long-awaited ABC sitcom Don't Trust the B---- In Apt. 23 makes its series premiere as well (you can watch the first two epis online at ABC now). The two-night premiere of Titanic hits ABC next Saturday (4/14) and HBO's new series Girls bows Sunday (4/15). If GetGlue stickers are available for any of the shows premiering this week you'll find them by clicking on their titles (above).

This installment saw another drop in total hours viewed, though that's due to some of my usual shows airing repeats combined with my having missed a handful of shows I'd hoped to catch (three of which I'd never seen before and had hoped to sample). This time my grand total topped out at just forty-five hours watched, down from my last column's total of forty-nine. To assemble this edition I screened twenty-five hours worth of hour-long programs, thirteen hours of reality shows and a mere seven hours (down from last column's ten) of half-hour fare, including the awesome freshman finale from House of Lies. Showtime's House of Lies was a very impressive show and one I look forward to seeing a second season of. Two shows I really regreted missing were The Mentalist and Bomb Patrol: Afghanistan, both sadly unavailable either online or OnDemand. Had either of those two been accessable in those ways I would've been able to include 'em in this column. The three shows I was gonna give a try, also not (yet) viewable online or OnDemand, were Escape Routes with iJustine, Dear Genevieve and both season premiere episodes of Sand Masters.

Before moving onto the subject of movies I wanted to share the preview clip for Syfy's new series Dream Machines. I got to speak with the Parkers and will be publishing that Q&A interview here for and about its premiere. Until then, read more about it here, watch their awesome creations (the 'Shredders') from Battleship here  and enjoy the impressive video below.

* Screen a must-see look inside the making of Battleship here.

Two upcoming blockbusters released great BTS featurettes last week, I've embedded them stacked below. The first is a reported featurette from The Dark Knight Rises' upcoming Blu-ray showcasing a recent exhibition of all five official Batmobiles displayed at the same place all at once; the second is for Total Recall excerpted from Entertainment Tonight.

The last trailer spotlighted this WiR edition is for Rock of Ages (starring Tom Cruise as rock legend Stacee Jaxx) which released its second official trailer last week. Check it out!

For fellow one-sheet fans I offer my singular favorite from last week's new batch, the international poster for Sacha Baron Cohen's upcoming laugher, The Dictator. The sure-to-be hit opens May 11th.
The Dictator
* Read about it here and screen its most recent trailer (released late last month) here.

GetGlue members who collect Coming Soon movie stickers will likely want their new glue for (in order of debut dates) Cabin in the Woods (4/13), The Five-Year Engagement (4/27), Bel Ami (5/4), The Avengers: Thor (5/4) and The ABC's of Death (premiering Fall 2013). Made for TV movie Undercover Bridesmaid (4/15) and actioner Arena (hitting G4 April 21st) also have CS stickers available now. Glue is also now unlockable for upcoming TV series (in order of premiere date) Eden's World (4/16), The Ricky Gervais Show (4/20), VEEP (4/22), The L.A. Complex (4/24) and for May, America's Got Talent (5/14). Marvel comics delivered super-cool new stickers for Amazing Spider-Man #683, Avengers VS. X-Men #1, Daredevil #10.1, Hulk #50 and Thunderbolts #172.

Thanks for reading through this column. Please come back again next week and make sure to peruse my other two weekly columns too. Have a Great Week and Happy Viewing!
