Music Video Week in Review 4/15/12 - The Shins, Selena Gomez, and more!

Nightfly lists his preferred picks among last week's newly released music videos.

Chasing The Matrix:
Nightfly's Music Video Week in Review  (week of 4/15/12)

Some extra interesting elements of this Week in Review include two contributions apiece from actress Rita Wilson and the band Keane, though one of Keane's offerings is in my Late Pass Zone. Pitbull's official MIB3 video appears as a Runner Up this edition, there's a song celebrating 4/20, and, another poignant Trayvon Martin tribute song - this one from Wyclef Jean. My Late Pass Zone includes a video by Bruce Springsteen and one named after him, the Beavis & Butt-Head category has some unusually good stuff and Big Time Rush dropped a teaser trailer for "Elevate" last week as well. See and read about the "Elevate" video preview here.

The first bonus vid featured this week is another Cherri Bomb Teenage Rock Diaries entry, this week coming from Miranda. According to drummer Nia Lovelis, whose first diary entry graced my previous column, each bandmate will get to post multiple entries - this time being Miranda's first. After watching the video (below) rock-out to their Avengers Assemble track "Shake The Ground" (from The Avengers soundtrack) here.

Back in the 80s and 90s a number of Gangsta Rappers used the sampled sound of gunfire in place of a snare drum (etc) but this new video (by Eclectic Method titled, "Guns") takes gun sound sampling to the next level. Screen it below and read a little about the ballistic clip here.

Selena's newest video for "Hit The Lights" is showcased out of competition in this installment's opening because it shares a fair amount of footage from the first version and (as a fan) I wanted it to enjoy a position of prominence. The latest version is embedded below and you can revisit the original here.

Last week MTV released Rihanna rehearsal footage for her upcoming "Where Have You Been" video. Witness her dedication below and read about it here.
