202. The Order (19 points)
Year first appeared: 2007
There have been two groups called "The Order" in the Marvel Universe. A previous group called The Order was composed of Doctor Strange, Namor the Sub-Mariner, the Silver Surfer and the Incredible Hulk. They tried to take over the world in an attempt to protect it, but were stopped and brought back to reason by their friends from the Defenders.
The current Order is a team of 8 super heroes created by Stark Industries. All members of the team were originally normal humans, but were artificially given superhuman abilities for a one-year period in order to fight crime. The team is lead by Anthem, a flying hero with energy powers. The other members are as follows: Aralune (child star turned shape shifter), Calamity (former baseball player and engineer with super speed), Heavy (super strong trainer and tactician of the team), Pepper Potts (the control center of The Order), Supernaut (a military man in a powerful combat suit), Veda (a woman with the ability to form and control huge golems from the earth around her) and Mulholland (a girl with a psychic connection to cities). It was a fun comic by Fraction, got cancelled way to early like all comics nowadays debuting new characters.
201. Rune (19 points)
Year first appeared: 1997
This dude kicks ALL sorts of ass. Do you like Vampires? Buy this book. Do you like supernatural stories? Buy this book. Do you like cosmic stories? Buy this book. This dude has taken on Thor, Silver Surfer, and even Conan. Rune was a human-like alien in the Ultraverse, until he acquired the Star Stones, magical artifacts that made him virtually immortal, but cursed him with a monstrous form and a vampiric thirst for blood. Ages ago, he found himself stranded on Earth, and has been both worshipped as a god and reviled as a demon throughout history.
Rune derives his power from the Star Stones, which he wears around his neck. These absorb the souls and life force of his victims, and he uses them to power various feats of magic. He has vampire-like abilities, including bat-like wings allowing him to fly, great strength, speed and durability, and is nearly impossible to kill, even by decapitation; however exposure to a nuclear explosion in 1952 has given him cancer and greatly weakened his powers. Even in this state, he is capable of performing magic spells such as teleporting people across a continent and creating illusions to disguise himself as human. He also possesses certain psychic powers, such as precognition, psychometry, and clairvoyance. By consuming the life force of an Ultra, he can temporarily boost his powers tremendously.
He plays a vital part in the Godwheel, the storyline I mentioned in the Lord Pumpkin post, and at one point in time he possessed the Infinity Gauntlet. Yes, that Infinity Gauntlet.
200. Crispus Allen
Year first appeared: 2000
"I so miss Gotham Central."
Yep. So do I, so do I. And I wanna make it known who voted for Crispus here voted for his pre-Spectre life. Originally from Metropolis, Detective Crispus Allen was a forty something police veteran transferred to Gotham City where he was partnered with detective Renee Montoya on the Gotham City Police Department's Major Crimes Unit. Allen had a loving wife and two teenaged sons, whom he put above his job and the safety of others when Gotham was in crisis. Allen saw Batman as a necessary evil, not wanting to deal with him but tolerating his presence. Their occasional interactions illustrated his views on Batman, notably during Brian Azzarello's "Broken City" storyline. Allen was an agnostic who doubted the existence of God in spite of his family's strong faith.
