178. Rand al'Thor (9 points)

"The boy destined to become the Dragon Reborn."

Rand al'Thor is special in that he is the only known soul to be woven out by the Wheel of Time for a specific rebirth. Although there are other known cases of rebirth (such as Birgitte Silverbow and Gaidal Cain, and the rest of the legendary heroes), only Rand al'Thor's rebirth has been foreseen. He is the rebirth of Lews Therin Telamon, a male Aes Sedai from the Age of Legends who gained prominence during the War of Power as the Dragon, the leader of the Forces of Light against the Shadow during the War of Power. This is why al'Thor is generally known as the Dragon Reborn.

Other evidence is showcased in the prologue to The Eye of the World: Ishamael comments that he and Lews Therin have battled each other since the dawn of mankind countless times, suggesting that the Dragon is a prominent figure every time the War of Power occurs.

Rand hears Lews Therin's voice in his head, something that does not normally occur with reincarnation. In fact, at the end of the 11th novel, Semirhage informs him and those present that Rand is insane, and that his condition is beyond repair and all who have had former lives speaking in their heads have been driven to insanity. However, the Forsaken, including both Semirhage and Ishamael (who was thought to have died) lie habitually so the validity of this statement is uncertain

It is supposedly fated for Rand al'Thor to die at Tarmon Gai'don, as one prophecy is "His blood on the rocks of Shayol Ghul," however this could be interpreted as one of his family, and therefore blood, dying instead. Nicola, a novice with the gift of foretelling, foretold, "The lion sword, the dedicated spear, she who sees beyond. Three on the boat, and he who is dead yet lives. The great battle done, but the world not done with battle. The land divided by the return, and the guardians balance the servants. The future teeters on the edge of a blade." The lion sword is Elayne, the dedicated spear Aviendha and she who sees beyond Min. He who is dead yet lives is Rand (this is confirmed by a dream Bair and Melaine had of Rand in a boat with three women they could not see and a scale tilting), for he is the dead Lews Therin Telamon reborn. The Great Battle is Tarmon Gai'don and the guardians are the Asha'man and the servants Aes Sedai (they are old tongue for guardians and servants). The return could be the Hailene. However, if he dies at Tarmon' Gaidon, he will have a son, daughter and four other children by Elayne and Aviendha. It is unknown if he and Min shall have children together

177. Sammy the Squidboy (9 points)

You know, the same person votes for this dude EVERY LIST HE CAN!!

When Sammy was first introduced, he was being bullied terribly, and was on the verge of committing suicide. Luckily, Professor X arrived and he was taken with him onto the Blackbird, where he met Beast. They had to fly to Muir Island as the X-Men were being attacked by Black Tom (Xavier took Sammy's gun from him when he tried to bring it with him to stop anyone else from finding it and hurting themselves). When the Juggernaut nearly drowned, Sammy jumped out of the Blackbird and swam down to save him, beginning their friendship.

They became very good friends, and Sammy began to attend the Xavier Institute.

Later, he secretly followed Juggernaut to the meeting of the Brotherhood. Juggernaut, at the time, was a member of the X-Men and merely pretending to be evil in order to infiltrate the New Brotherhood (lead by Exodus and Black Tom).

When he was discovered, Black Tom broke every bone in his body, killing him. Sammy unfortunately died believing Juggernaut a villain. Juggernaut was enraged and attacked Black Tom.

In that Wolverine cartoon, Sammy appeared traveling on a ship with his mother (who is also a mutant) to go to Genosha like other mutants. There he met Nightcrawler and introduced himself as Squidboy. He confessed that it was not his real name and it would be the codename that he prefers if he would be an X-Man. he also discriminates himself because his powers are not strong enough. When the ship was attacked by the Reavers, the mutants went into a panic.. Later on, he joined Nightcrawler's team of mutants in that ship. He was commanded to connect a hose from the lower part of the ship so that the others can fix it. When Spiral discovered that the mutants were freeing themselves, she took Squidboy hostage but was saved by Nightcrawler. Spiral and the Reavers then surrendered. They continued on to Genosha with the other refugees.

176. Dove II (9 points)
Dove II was a female named Dawn Granger. She shared none of the indecisiveness of Hank’s brother Don. During their first encounter Hawk attacked her trying to get her to stop impersonating his brother, but she dodged him repeatedly and he ended up single-handedly taking out a gang that was possessed by a Lord of Chaos.

Despite constantly arguing they managed to hold their own against Kestrel a creation of the Lords of Chaos meant to replace or turn Hawk to their side. After Hawk was nearly beaten to death by Kestrel, Dove was able to protect him and drive off Kestrel. Finally once Hank learned Dove’s secret identity (after guessing wrong twice) they agreed to team up to defeat Kestrel. As they fought him in the Realm of Chaos, Dove found she couldn’t concentrate; Hawk found himself losing control. When Kestrel threatened Dove’s life Hawk intervened on her behalf. Defeated, Kestrel returned to his masters in disgrace.

Later, having been lured to Druspa Tau, the home of the lords of Order and Chaos, they discovered that they could remove their costumes for the first time, revealing their true forms. Hawk had a thick hide and had red feathers in place of body hair. Dove seemed to glow, having an ethereal quality and quickly found she could fly. There they joined with T’Charr, the lord of Chaos; Terataya the lord of Order, who were lovers, becoming their avatars on Earth. When they returned, Dove could still fly; Hawk was stronger and was bullet-proof.
