55. Cable (71 points - 1 first place slot)
"He started out as a joke, but his growth as a character made him awesome."
"Big guns. Pouches. Awesome."
I'm a fan. Fuck all you haters.
Cable, born Christopher Charles Summers, is the son of Scott Summers (The X-Man Cyclops) and Madelyne Pryor, who was a clone of Jean Grey. Madelyne was created by Mr. Sinister in the hope that she would seduce Scott and together they would create a powerful offspring. It was Sinister's plan to use the child as an ultimate weapon against his former master, the eternal mutant, Apocalypse. When Jean Grey was reborn from her cocoon in Jamaica Bay, Cyclops left Madelyne and his son.
Pryor was assaulted by the Marauders and later awoke from a coma that lasted weeks. She was then named "Jane Doe", her existence erased by Sinister and her baby gone. She called on the X-Men who rescued her from the Marauders who were sent again by Sinister to finish her off. Remaining with the X-Men, Madelyne was manipulated by the Limbo demon Sym in her dreams and tortured by Genosha's Genegineer, resulting in the manifestation of latent Phoenix powers. Sinister, hoping to set his plans in motion, kept baby Christopher in his lair beneath the orphanage Scott grew up in. The demon N'astirh learned of Sinister's plan and sent demons who took the baby from Sinister's genetic farm after Jean and Scott had found him in a chamber filled with other babies. Scott and Jean were distracted fighting Orphan Maker and the Nanny, also at the orphanage to kill baby Christopher and any potential mutant children. Believing Jean stole her identity and husband, Madelyne destroyed Jean's tombstone and turned her parents into her demon minions. Madelyne was taken by N'astirh to what was her cloning chamber at Sinister's lab and Sinister confessed that she was Jean's clone. N'astirh returned with the baby and gave it to a newly liberated Madelyne. Driven mad and now calling herself the Goblin Queen. Madelyne renamed her son "Nathan" after the pseudonym Sinister used while bullying Cyclops in the orphanage he grew up in. She wanted to use her own son for revenge against Sinister and Cyclops and set to sacrifice Nathan to open the portal to Limbo on Earth. Pryor was eventually defeated and killed by Jean Grey and the combined forces of X-Factor and the X-Men; and the baby was rescued.
After the Inferno story arc, Scott and Jean cared for the baby, keeping the name Nathan Christopher. Apocalypse, apparently having learned of Sinister's plan at some point, abducted baby Nathan and infected him with a deadly techno-organic virus on the Inhumans' lunar base before X-Factor could save him.
A member of the Clan Askani, a sisterhood in the future that fought against Apocalypse, appeared and told Cyclops that Nathan would die from the T-O virus unless she brought him 2000 years into the future. Cyclops had no choice but to agree and sent his son to the future with X-Factor's sentient computer Ship watching over him. Ship, created by the Celestials and once under Apocalypse's control, had been almost destroyed by a similar T-O virus and reduced to a pod that lay dormant in young Nathan's chest cavity with its eons of information lost or damaged when it entered the time-stream. The leader of the Askani clan, known as Mother Askani, turned out to be a time-displaced Rachel Summers. Scott and Jean's daughter from another reality, currently known as Marvel Girl. Nate was cloned in case he couldn't survive the Askani's treatment for the virus. However, the Askani were attacked by those loyal to Apocalypse who took the clone believing it to be the real Nathan. Apocalypse raised the infant as his heir and future vessel and dubbed him Stryfe, the Chaos-Bringer.
Mother Askani/Rachel was able to bring the psyches of honeymooning Scott and Jean into this future to raise and protect Nate during a particularly violent time when Apocalypse's purges were threatening the Askani's existence. Inhabiting new bodies and using the names Slym and Redd Dayspring. Scott and Jean raised Nate for 12 years. After many years and battles, Stryfe was able to escape into the past and Nate had to follow him. He arrived in Scotland many years before he would be born, where he met Moira MacTaggert. Cable used his telepathy with Moira to learn how to speak English and brushed up on 20th century history. She suggested Nate meet Professor X, so he traveled to New York City. There he had a tussle with Vulture as well as Wolverine who was working for Department H at the time.
Nate assumed the name Cable and formed a mercenary group, the Wild Pack, later known as the Six Pack after Silver Sable informed them the name was already taken. The Six Pack carried out missions primarily on behalf of a "European businessman", Mr. Tolliver, who was later revealed to be Cable's son Tyler Dayspring.
Cable had his computer, "Professor", research a group of seemingly immortal mutants called Externals. Sam Guthrie's name came up in the search and apparently was living well into the 24th century, and going by the codename Cannonball in the 20th century when he would potentially first realize he was an external. Cable took a particular interest in Sam because it was stated that he had the potential to become a high lord, an extremely rare mutant more powerful than Externals.
For a time, Cable had nearly limitless control over his powers, however he knew the toll wielding such energy would have on his body, so he tried to make a difference while he still could. He wanted to give people a taste of what peace could be like. He used his powers to pull the sunken pieces of his space station Providence out of the ocean and rebuild it as a flying sanctuary, inviting some of the world's greatest minds and anyone else looking to start anew. In a series of interviews with his friend Irene Merryweather, he revealed that: He spent four days re-routing the waterways to flood half the Sahara. He spent two days removing every logger in the Amazon. He soothed the pain of every single person on earth suffering from disease. Stopped the white blood cell count deterioration in AIDS patients, attempted to straighten the leaning tower of Pisa. He stopped a daily average of fourteen individual terrorist attacks, eleven hundred attempted murders and seven thousand car accidents.
As he was so powerful, governments, S.H.I.E.L.D. and the X-Men all worried that he had become drunk with power, and in a way they were just. The X-Men ran over seventy Danger Room simulations trying to find a way to defeat Cable, and came up being terribly defeated every time. S.H.I.E.L.D. planned on finding a way to deactivate Providence's anti-gravity generators, which wouldn't have worked anyway because Cable was holding the floating city using only his mind. Cable gave all governments 48 hour notice that they need to disarm or he would throw all their weapons into the sun. The Six Pack were dispatched to take down Cable, but were easily defeated, most of them chose to side with Cable. The X-Men along with Deadpool attempted an assault on Cable and also were defeated, with Deadpool ambushing Bishop and Wolverine and joining Cable's side again.
Eventually Silver Surfer got into the picture and battled Cable. Surfer was concerned that Cable's passion would consume him, and lead him to destroy the world. While fighting, Cable rebuilt all the damage to the city that ensued during their battle while simultaneously keeping Providence afloat. Cable managed to shatter the Surfer's board, but was defeated by the alien nonetheless. Cable had Deadpool use a teleporter matrix to lobotomize him so he couldn't use his higher brain functions, like telepathy, but not before Cable safely lowered Providence into the South Pacific. Cable went into hiding, barely able to keep himself alive. While he was in hiding, an additional twelve thousand people sought refuge at Providence.
During the Messiah Complex, a new Baby Mutant is born on Earth. Cable and the X-Men proclaim the new mutant baby to the be the future savior of mutant and mankind alike. Cable decides that the new mutant baby should be protected at all costs and fights for it. After many events and battles, the baby ends up in Cable's hands. Cable time travels in order to protect him and the baby.
After traveling for five months, Cable arrives in New Jersey in the year 2043 A.D. and in a hostile environment. When Cable attempts to enter a diner, he is attacked by Bishop who has apparently tracked him down and wants to kill the baby because he believes that the baby will bring doom to mutants in the future. When Nathan was about to escape, he was stopped by his father, Cyclops. Cable reasoned with him that the baby will not be safe in present, that she could grow up to be the mutant savior by letting her grow up to the future. Seeing that Cable may have a point, Cyclops let his son escape to the time portal. When Cable arrived in the future, he says, "Now comes the hard part".
After the events of Messiah Complex, Cable and the baby have traveled through into an alternate future for the safety of the baby. They were followed by Bishop who is bent on killing the baby because he believes that she is the cause of the mutants being tortured in his reality. After an altercation with Bishop, Cable and the baby take refuge in the house of a waitress named Sophie.
As Cable heals his wounds and tends to the baby he is visited by an old friend; Sam "Cannonball" Guthrie. It was found out that Cannonball is the last remaining X-man in that reality and was able to find Cable and the baby mutant by using Cerebra. After figuring out that Bishop was on the way Cannonball stayed behind so that Cable, the baby mutant and Sophie could make their escape. After a battle with Bishop, Cannonball seemed to have the upper hand. Before he could deliver a final blow, Bishop used the technology from his arm to rip out Cannonballs heart and left him dead on the ground.
Elsewhere, Sophie tried to convince Cable to continue to run away saying that he was a good man. Cable's response to her plea was "I'm tired of running". Cable, then destroyed Cerebra at the remains of the X-Mansion in Westchester so that Bishop can't use it against him. Cable then goes into the armory and equips himself, and Sophie. He then puts the baby into a metal holster to keep it from harm, boards the blackbird and finds Bishop. Cable tells Lucas that he should not have followed him, but Bishop ignores it and steps forward and starts to shoot but steps on a mine. Bishop then uses a car to hit Cable. Bishop is about to kill Cable and the baby when Cable realizes that he can jump to the future and jumps escaping death.
54. Psylocke (73 points)
In Switzerland, Betsy was seeing with her telepathy to see the world through the eyes of the other people around her. There, she was captured by Mojo and Spiral, who held her captive for about a year, during which they gave her bionic eyes to replace the damaged ones, named her "Psylocke" and made her the star of a TV show called "Wildways," which actually was an otherdimensional realm. Kids all over the world were encouraged to call a certain phone number and join the Wildways and, ultimately, the New Mutants became involved too.
After Warlock and Cypher were able to release Betsy from Mojo's hold, all of them returned to Westchester. Betsy decided to stay at Xavier's school, wanting to learn how to master her powers, since she had been a victim to long. Strangely, the bionic eyes remained with Betsy, giving her visual sight again. Little did she know that the implanted eyes could also function as cameras that allowed Mojo to record everything she saw and broadcast it as TV shows in his Mojoverse. Over the next days, Psylocke discovered, through her telepathy, that Doug Ramsey of the New Mutants was in love with her. Even though she had similar feelings, she did not explore their relationship further since he was under age.
In the Mutant Massacre story arc, Betsy would be able to prove herself to the X-Men. Sabretooth invaded the mansion while the X-Men and New Mutants were away on assignments. Betsy protected the children at the mansion and was able to last long enough until Wolverine arrived to engage in one on one combat with Sabretooth. Betsy would then scan Sabretooth's mind to figure out his plans. It was her bravery in risking her life luring Sabretooth away from the Xavier Institute and the injured inside that earned her Wolverine's respect. Later when the X-Men shows became an outstanding success, Mojo tried to turn them into his loyal servants by reducing them to childhood and raising them anew, yet they were saved by the New Mutants. During the fight, Betsy learned of the purpose of the bionic eyes, but she decided to keep it secret. During a battle with Adversary, Betsy was killed, then resurrected and teleported away to Australia by Roma. After this Betsy decided to wear an armor to protect herself. Later, Storm was thought to be dead and several other X-Men like Wolverine and Rogue were missing, so Psylocke took leadership of the X-Men. Much to the dislike of Havok who didn't trust Betsy because of her casual reading of his mind.
To prevent the X-Men's death, which she had foreseen in a precognitive vision, Betsy sent the team through the Siege Perilous, a device given to her by Roma, Merlyn's daughter. The Siege Perilous would give them all new lives. Betsy awoke on an island near China without her memories. She was found by the evil ninja group, The Hand. The leader of The Hand, Matsuo Tsurayaba, wanted to save the life of his brain-dead girlfriend, Kwannon. To do so, he had Spiral's Bodyshoppe switch Betsy's and Kwannon's souls. Spiral not only switched their bodies but also fused their minds and physical features. They shared the same memories and shared half of Psylocke's telepathic powers.
Betsy was given to The Mandarin to serve as his assassin. While working as an assassin, Betsy changed her armor to a more revealing outfit, and learned to focus her psychic energy and turn them into the "psychic knife". On her first assignment as Lady Mandarin, she had to battle Wolverine. When she stabbed Wolverine in the head with her psychic knife, it showed her his memories and revealed to Psylocke who she truly was. Psylocke then rejected her role as Lady Mandarin and escaped with Wolverine and Jubilee to Genosha. In Genosha Psylocke, Wolverine, and Jubilee discovered that the X-Men and the New Mutants had been captured by Cameron Hodge. They also met Havok on Genosha, then they went on and defeated Cameron Hodge. Once the X-Men were free they all headed back to New York. They all then re-joined the X-Men.
Soon, Psylocke's loyalties were put to the test. Shortly after the original five X-Men rejoined, the team found themselves under attack by Fenris and Matsu'o Tsurayaba. During the battle, he used a post-hypnotic command, causing Betsy to switch sides and oppose the X-Men. Her entire team ended up captive, but it turned out that she was only feigning obedience. Psylocke had truly overcome her brainwashing.
When the X-Men split into two teams, Psylocke joined Cyclops' team. She eventually started flirting with him and when Jean Grey found out, the two started fighting. They were interrupted when Kwannon (now calling herself Revanche turned up at the Xavier Institute (in Betsy's body) and claimed to be the real Psylocke. Not knowing what or who to believe, the X-Men had no choice but allow her to stay. Revanche then confessed to Psylocke that she had contracted the Legacy Virus thanks to Spiral. Soon after, Revanche was mercy-killed by Matsuo Tsurayaba. Upon her death Betsy gained her full telepathic powers and the and remaining pieces of herself but was still able to retain Revanche's martial arts skills. Kwannon's fractured memories and personality were also removed from Psyocke's mind by Matsuo who gained a small fraction of Kwannon's psychic powers. Afterwards, Jean re-trained Betsy to use her telepathy and she also started a relationship with Angel.
Sabretooth had been living in the mansion pretending to be mentally handicapped. He attacked Boom Boom and Psylocke, in an attempt to save her, battled Sabretooth. Although Psylocke was now a master martial artist, Sabretooth's raw strength was too much for her. In a desperate attempt to beat him, she stabbed him in the head with her psychic knife. However, due to being stabbed in the head already by Wolverine, he lost part of his brain so he was immune to the psychic attacks from Psylocke. Sabretooth then proceeded to brutally beat Psylocke to near death. In a desperate attempt to save her life, Angel, Wolverine, and Doctor Strange went to the Crimson Dawn to retrieve a magical healing liquid. They found it and used it on Psylocke, however there was a side effect. It left a red dagger tattoo on Psylocke's left eye. This gave her the ability to hide and teleport through shadows. The tattoo also made her personality colder, which put a strain on her relationship with Angel.
When a demon named Kuragari took over the Crimson Dawn, he demanded a debt be paid for the healing liquid they used for Psylocke. He wanted to corrupt Psylocke and make her his queen. However, in order for Psylocke to be freed, Angel gave part of his essence to Kuragari. Once Psylocke was freed from Kuragari, the two of them defeated the demon. After this incident, Angel and Psylocke retired from the X-Men.
Storm received a message from her adopted mother asking for help. Storm gathered Psylocke, Wolverine, and a few other untrained X-Men. Psylocke teleported them all using her Shadow Teleport ability. When they arrived, Psylocke and Wolverine were immediately engaged in battle with sand-warriors. When they finally located Storm and her mother in the village, the other villagers were kidnapped by Ananasi . Psylocke scanned Storm's mother and found out that their enemy was a powerful telepath whose barriers even Psylocke couldn't get past. Psylocke decided to take the fight to the Astral Plane. There they discovered the villagers standing there as if they were mindless. During a fight with Ananasi, Psylocke accidentally stabbed a mindless villager with the psychic knife. This caused a giant shock-wave that disabled the powers of anyone that was a telepath. Ananasi finally took off his mask and revealed that he was the Shadow King. The Shadow King was able to trick Psylocke into using her psi-wave to remove all mutant telepathy on Earth so he could mind control everyone. They battled each other, and the Shadow King destroyed Psylocke's psychic form which nearly killed her. Psylocke was able to survive with the help of the Crimson Dawn. She gained a new shadow form with new abilities. Psylocke then helped Storm's mother escape from the prison and together they found Storm. Psylocke turned the two into shadows because the Shadow King could not sense them in that form. Psylocke engaged him in battle again and tried to hold him off; as Psylocke could not hold the shadow covering Storm and her mother and use her abilities to fight the Shadow King at the same time, she tossed them back to reality. Psylocke then submitted to defeat and swore allegiance to the Shadow King. However, he did not believe her and took her to his prison. The Shadow King devised a plan to take over everyone's mind, but was tricked by Psylocke into over using himself. With a weakened Shadow King, Psylocke was able to separate him from his powers. Therefore, she was able to trap him in the psi-plane. However, in order for her to keep him imprisoned she had to keep her telepathic powers focused on trapping him, which is the reason why she temporarily lost the ability to use it.
When Jean tried to help Psylocke deal with the Shadow King, the two ended up switching powers. So Psylocke's telepathy was added to Phoenix's telepathy, and Psylocke gained telekinesis. Psylocke then returned to active duty on the X-Men and began to flirt with Neal Shaara which resulted in a break-up with Angel.
Psylocke then joined Storm's X-Treme X-Men team to search for Destiny's diaries in Spain. Psylocke fought a man named Vargas, but his sword skills were too much for Psylocke. Vargas ended up killing Psylocke. Psylocke was buried at the Braddock family estate. Psylocke was then mysteriously resurrected and her Crimson Dawn tattoo was gone, and so were the powers that it gave her. Psylocke did not regain her telepathy but the telekinesis that she got from Jean became much stronger. Even Marvel Girl admitted that the level of her telekinesis was beyond hers. During a mission in the Savage Land, Psylocke displayed how much her power had increased. During the House of M, Psylocke was returned to England and was a princess. Since Psylocke and Rachel were in the White-Hot Room, they retained their memories throughout the event. When House of M ended, Psylocke was one of the few that retained her mutant power.
It was then revealed that Psylocke had been resurrected by her eldest brother Jamie Braddock. Jamie has the ability to manipulate the quantum strings that comprise reality. Jamie also claimed that he had made Psylocke immune to reality warping. Jamie said that this was all a plan to make Psylocke the ultimate weapon against the "Foursaken". Then Jamie was grabbed by a mysterious giant hand and Nightcrawler teleported everyone out of the area. Psylocke and the team were kidnapped by the Foursaken, but they could not detect Psylocke, exactly as Jamie had planned. Psylocke, the X-Men, and the Foursaken was sucked down a hole. They defeated their enemies and Jamie returned everyone back to where they were.
After Psylocke helped Storm free some people in Africa, she returned to England to talk to her brother, Brian, about Jamie. The Shadow King had returned by then and taken over an alternate reality Professor X. He lured Psylocke to visit him and controlled all the members of New Excalibur - minus Sage - into beating Brian. Psylocke created a telekinetic bubble inside Shadow Xavier's brain to give him a stroke, which freed New Excalibur from his control. Just as Psylocke was about to hit the killing blow with her psychic sword, she disappeared in a flash of light.
Then she joined Exiles and killed the series.
Oh, she is back now and I really do not care.
53. War Machine (74 points)
James "Jim" Rupert Rhodes was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He first met Tony Stark while flying combat missions in Vietnam. Rhodes' helicopter had been shot down by Viet Cong rocket fire, and while trying to get the aircraft airborne again, he encountered Stark in a bulky prototype suit of powered armor. At that moment the Viet Cong attacked, and Stark, in his suit, helped to drive them off. Together, Rhodes and Stark made their way to a nearby enemy base where they stole another helicopter, flying it back to the American lines.
After the end of the Vietnam War, Stark, who had secretly become the superhero named Iron Man, offered Rhodes a job as his personal pilot, and Rhodes soon became one of Stark's closest associates and confidants as well as Stark Industries' chief aviation officer. As a result, he had numerous adventures with his employer where his daring and skills were valuable assets. When Tony relapsed into his alcoholism, James Rhodes took over the Variable Threat Response Battle Suit (War Machine). James Rhodes took up the mantle of Iron Man for some time, and would return to using this suit.
During the Time Wars James Rhodes traveled back to World War II with Sheva Josephs to stop Grinz, a Nazi officer who was receiving advanced technology from the future, Rhodes learned that Grinz was supplied by his own son, Raeder. Rhodes killed Grinz to prevent Raedar from being born; the resulting paradox shunted Rhodes and Joseph back to their own time, It was then that James Rhodes lost the War Machine Armor and was forced to retire from the superhero business.
It was during a fishing trip, trying to relax, that an alien race came to Rhodey and bonded him with the symbiotic alien suit, known as the Eidolon Warwear. Known as the Eidolon Warwear System, was a gift from unknown aliens who apparently wished to give us a defender for Earth's coming battle with Kang The Conqueror. The black, orange and green battle suit was an organic partner that sensed Rhodey's heroic nature and drew him near so that it could organically bond with him. When Stark died during a battle with Kang The Conqueror, Rhodes rejoined Stark Enterprises to protect his old friend's legacy. To prevent Stark's armor technology from being misused, he used the abilities of the Eidolon Warwear armor to erase all trace of Stark's designs from the Fujikawa systems, but the armor was destroyed in the process. Rhodes gave up his superhero career and started his own salvage company. Upon Stark and the other heroes' return from Counter-Earth, the two renewed their friendship, also dealing with the new War Machine, Parnell Jacobs.
Rhodes was fired by Stark after War Machine kills two hostage takers on national TV, one in cold-blood. After his dismissal, Rhodes is attacked by former War Machine pilot Parnell in an attempt to recover the War Machine armor. The two are picked up by Nick Fury and taken to the Helicarrier. It is revealed that Jacobs had sold his stolen War Machine to Hydra for money when he learned his wife was pregnant. SHIELD was able to recover the armor and was in the process of reverse engineering the Stark technology. Nick Fury planned to field a squad of War Machines commanded by Rhodes.
He would take a break from heroics for a while, Rhodes founded his own marine salvage company, but an extravagant lifestyle and an unscrupulous accountant left him bankrupt. Rhodes had heavily invested in Grace & Tumbalt due to their stated purpose of improving urban ethnic neighborhoods. While investigating the death of his sister Jeanette, he learned the company was corrupt, using their resources to fuel gangs and drugs. He would then form a team of superheroes called "The Crew." The team consisted of The White Tiger, Junta, and Josiah X, the son of the 1940's super-soldier Isaiah Bradley, the black Captain America. Rhodes used part of a prototype War Machine armor to face off with Triage, the head of the 66 Bridges, and the gang was dispersed by Rhodes and his allies.
After the House of M incident, he would guard the mutants as the commanding officer and head combat instructor for Sentinel Squad O*N*E* and as a key member of the Office of National Emergency, using an Iron Man like armor that took advantage of sentinel technology, he would start controlling one of the large Sentinel suits after Tony Stark designed a "War Machine" model.
He would drop the Sentinel armor and return to his superhero duties once the Initiative went into effect. Jim Rhodes is back in the War Machine Armor for the first time in over 4 years and is the Field Commander of Camp Hammond and one of the head trainers of new recruits of The Initiative program. It has been recently shown that while serving as a military consultant at a base in Dubai and test piloting a combat plane, the base was bombed by terrorists. Rhodes had been severely injured and without limbs while fighting the terrorists . Dieing from his injuries Tony saved his with life cybernetic implants and James becomes a cyborg.
After the events of the Secret Invasion, War Machine swore to get rid of Osborn's evil power and influence. This brought Jim to Aqiria where a friend of him, Dr. Glenda Sandoval, was kidnapped. With the help of Parnell Jacobs (Glenda's ex husband) and Bethany Cabe, War Machine infiltrated Aqiria and fought against Eaglestar's private army in order to free his friend
After a vicious battle, War Machine confronted Ares and also Davis Harmon, Eaglestar's CEO and the man who kidnapped Glenda. Jim managed to defeat Ares, even for a brief moment and Harmon freed Sandoval from the confinement area. Harmon was sure that he couldn't be prosecuted by his war crimes due to the legal status of Aqiria, but that didn't stopped Glenda of taking justice into her own hands. But Harmon's deep secrets were opened by Ares, a rabid pack of prisoners infected by the ultimo virus. And Glenda was of the first victims becoming an enraged slave of the virus. While this is going on Bethany Cabe is currently working on making a clone body for Jim to download his mind into because his cybernetic implants were meant to be permanent , but this is discovered by Norman Osborn who steal the body.
During this arc, James found himself facing the Doomsday device known as Ultimo, and in order to defeat it, he formed an alliance with Norman Osborn and together they defeated the robot. But Osborn revealed his true motives: to claim Ultimo for himself. While James was fighting Osborn, his Team War Machine ally Suzi Endo escaped to space with Ultimo in order to reprogram it. After Osborn defeated James, it was revealed that he was actually buying his team time in order to expose the Bainesville Ten, a group of politicians and industry captains responsible for horrific acts around the world. In order the prevent the prosecution of the Bainesville Ten, Osborn made a distraction of his own by sending Rhodes to the Hague to be tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The longer Rhodes's trial continues, the more time Osborn has to thwart the prosecution of the Ten and smuggles them out of the country. Rhodes sends away his lawyers and awaits prosecution in his cell room although evidence of his innocence exists. Rhodey's mom comes to his cell and attempts to talk him out of surrendering himself, but he tells her that he'll never give up and contacts his team who are in possession of his cine body, and are about to get the tranbod close enough to Rhodes so they can begin the transfer process of his consciousness into the body. However their plan was discovered by Osborn and sends a team of H.A.M.M.E.R agents after Team War Machine to thwart their plan. Jim was discovered talking to his team by the guards who started attacking him until Ares appeared and fought alongside Rhodey claiming to be his "champion". In the meantime, all of the Bainesvelle Ten have left the U.S and Norman gave a speech claiming that Rhodes was kidnapped by Tony Stark and that a Starktech cyborg (the real War Machine) committed the "atrocities" in James' name, while Osborn was attempting to control the clned body of Rhodes and condemn the real War Machine. In the Hague, War Machine was apparently killed while trying to protect a child. When all seemed to go well for Osborn and the Bainesville Ten, the data that was stored in James's cyborg memory was transferred to the Bainesvelle Ten, and they started seeing every recording of every person that has suffered because of them over and over again causing them extreme pain. After seeing this, Osborn turned around to see James in a whole new body, and he punched him in the face. Team War Machine was successful in transferring Rhodes' consciousness into the new body. Rhodes left Osborn to deal with his defeat. He was cleared of all charges and given a new "fresh" body.
Come the Heroic Age, War Machine will be an Avenger once more....but its a Secret. Shhhhh.
