Venom Takes on Eunuch Menace in this First Look at Venom #23

Venom's first mission as a Secret Avenger pits the symbiote soldier against a new kind of villain.

The new creative team of Cullen Bunn and Thony Silas takes over Venom with Venom #23, and they're making a bold choice of antagonists for Flash Thompson: eunuchs.

We've seen Avengers vs X-Men, X-Men vs Vampires, Wolverine vs. his own children, but, amazingly, no one in the history of the Marvel Universe has addressed the age-old question of what would happen when an alien-symbiote-powered super-soldier faces off against men with no dicks. This oversight is corrected with Venom #23, as one can see by viewing the first look preview images below. In the preview, Thompson, after reminiscing about some of his defining moments - bullying Peter Parker, recovering from losing his legs, joining the Secret Avengers, facing off against Rorschach in Alan Moore's masterpiece, Watchmen - pulls a nude, booger-covered man out of what we assume to be a giant nasal cavity. Flash is caught off guard, however, when the man springs violently to life and attacks. After a brief exchange, the man falls to his knees in emotional agony, and the final panel reveals the shocking truth: the man is clearly a eunuch.

Eunuchs are a rising commodity in the entertainment industry, despite being underrepresented for decades. In fact, it wasn't until 2010's Toy Story 3 dared to feature the courageous and redeeming story of Ken, probably the most well-known eunuch of modern times, that the industry realized the eunuch potential, with several popular shows and movies now featuring male characters who've been castrated. Varys from Game of Thrones, Edward from Twilight and David Spade are all popular eunuchs in pop culture today.

The Outhouse is glad to see that Marvel is finally servicing the eunuch and eunuch fan demographic, and hopes to see more dickless characters introduced in the coming months. Perhaps some long-established characters could be revealed to be eunuchs, in much the same way that major comics publishers have shamelessly begged for attention from major media by turning characters gay. Cyclops would probably be a good choice, as Marvel is running out of ways to destroy the character after the events of Avengers vs. X-Men, and this could revitalize that mission. Spider-Man would also be another plausible character, due to his recent portrayal by alleged eunuch Andrew Garfield in Amazing Spider-Man.

The Outhouse promises to stay on top of this story, probably with a series of self-righteous, faux-intellectual monthly articles analyzing the statistical trends of eunuch representation in both the fictional universes of comics and the creative and editorial staff that make them. Stay tuned!
