Marvel continues its surprise announcements by teasing a new book by Mark Waid and Leinil Francis Yu.
Following news of its purchase of Invincible from Robert Kirkman and yesterday's announcement of Wolverine and the Worthy, Marvel has revealed on CBR yet another surprise title being released during their Marvel NOW! relaunch. The Outhouse can exclusively confirm that the next title will be a new creator owned series called Indestructable. Much like Irredeemable, Incorruptable and Insufferable, the new series will be written by Mark Waid. Leinel Francis Yu will provide art for at least a portion of the series, although its doubtful that he'll be able to keep up a regular schedule.
Waid's decision to bring his fourth "I" series to Marvel is a bit of a surprise, due to the company's rather dubious creator rights history but we're sure it will be of the same high quality as Irredeemable which was nominated for a slew of Eisners during its run at Boom! Studios. We're sure that Waid, who recently won an Eisner for his work on Marvel's Daredevil series, will bring lots of great, worldly ideas to a character almost certainly not irradiated with gamma radiation. This announcement is the second book that will feature new exciting characters instead of rehashes of the same stories Marvel fans have read for the last half-century.
The announcement comes as a bit of a surprise, however, as it was leaked on Twitter that Waid and Yu would be working on a new Hulk title. We're pretty sure that this isn't it, however, as Indestructable has never been used as an adjective for any Hulk title. The green font could be a sign that this is in fact a new Hulk series, which will still probably be pretty good.
