Paul Dini, writer of Batman: Arkham Asylum and it's sequel Batman: Arkham City, will not be coming back for another round with its prequel.
A few days ago on his Twitter, Dini confirmed that he'd not be writing the third game to the series, this one being a prequel involving the Justice League. He went on to say:
Kinda hoped I'd be doing another Arkham game in London during the Olympics. Esp, as I had a good source for tx. Ah, well.
Though when asked if he would return to the series if asked to write the sequel to it, Dini responded:
Dini then went further fully confirming he'd not be returning, when some fans asked him:
"are you working on another arkham game?" No.
No word yet when the Arkham prequel will be released. All we know is that it will be set during the Silver Age and will feature Batman's first enounter with the Joker. It's also believed that other DC superheroes will appear, leading to the formation of the Justice League. With Dini out, one must think Geoff Johns or Dan Didio will be writing the story to this game, given it's their wet dream become reality.
