IDW Gives Readers Opportunity to Buy Judge Dredd Reprints Twice

In a brilliant strategy to increase sales, IDW will release Brian Bolland's Judge Dredd reprints twice - once in black and white, and once in color.

Comic book fans love Judge Dredd. IDW loves money. Finally, there is way to bring these two passions together. In November, IDW will release Judge Dredd: The Complete Brian Bolland, an oversized hardcover that presents Bolland's detailed linework in what IDW is calling "pristine black and white."

"We’re happy to give [the fans] what they want," said Chris Ryal, who embodies this theme of duality by being both IDW's Chief Creative Officer and its Editor in Chief. In a second part of this quote which is marginally more made-up than the first part, Ryall continued, "Especially when giving the fans what they want means we can sell a fifty dollar hardcover without paying a premium for four color printing."

The best part is, IDW won't stop there. Come Spring, they will begin releasing the very same Brian Bolland comics collected in the hardcover in a monthly format, "applying the most modern coloring techniques to these beloved pages." Finally, grateful fans will have the opportunity to pay IDW twice for the same product!

"I was thinking to myself the other day," said Randall P. Stuftwallet, a typical comic book fan, "that the only thing better than paying IDW for thirty year old Judge Dredd comics once would be paying IDW for thirty year old Judge Dredd comics two times! It's like IDW read my mind! Thanks, IDW!"

Indeed, all of comics readership owes IDW a debt of gratitude for changing the paradigms of comic book publishing and allowing readers to give publishers more money without producing any new work. The Outhouse, for one, has considered starting up a Kickstarter project in order to raise money to send to publishers, since we feel downright guilty paying only $3.99 for an entire comic book! Luckily, IDW has beaten us to the punch, and provided a way to fill their coffers without engaging in the borderline communist act of fundraising.

Judge Dredd: The Complete Brian Bolland (248 pages) will be in stores in November and will retail for $49.99, but if you feel that's too good a deal, please feel free to write a blank check and mail it right to IDW's offices. Other Judge Dredd collections will follow, unless IDW gets so rich they don't want to be bothered anymore.
