IGN's new two-page interview with Deadpool creators Brian Posehn, Gerry Duggan, and Tony Moore proves what a big boy website they are!
There have been a lot of complaints lately from the Internet Comics Community and even comic book industry insiders that comic book journalism is too soft and fluffy. Marvel Comics has aimed to change that perception this week by providing a series of in depth interviews about some of their biggest Marvel NOW! books to major websites like Newsarama, ComicBookResources, and IGN. Marvel knows that these websites will ask the tough questions, motivated by the incestuous relationship wherein major comic book publishers provide a few top websites with exclusive information and unfettered access to top talent in exchange for coverage that is little more than glorified commercial promotion. IGN takes this hard-hitting journalistic approach to a new level in the latest Marvel NOW! interview with Deadpool creators Brian Posehn, Gerry Duggan, and Tony Moore.
Here are some of the exciting facts we learned by reading IGN's interview:
- Deadpool will have both action and comedy.
- There will be some new characters in the series supporting cast.
- Well known characters will make guest appearances in the series.
- The premise for Deadpool will be exactly the same as it has been for the last ten years.
- The book will be "fun."
- The writers are drunk a lot.
- Marvel's editors think the scripts are funny.
- Deadpool will have less pouches.
The Outhouse, and no doubt comic readers everywhere, would like to thank IGN, famous for their exteremely tough comic book review scoring system of rating books on a scale of 4 to 5 stars, for providing this unprecendented, in-depth examination of the upcoming Deadpool series, proving that "real" journalism is still alive and well in the comics world.
