Check out the cover to Uncanny Avengers #2, the Marvel NOW! book from Rick Remender and John Cassaday!

It is always a risky move that could alienate half an audience when comics companies mix politics with superhero stories, but that doesn't stop Marvel and DC, stalwarts of the "liberal media," from doing so at every opportunity. In the past few years, we've seen Marvel Comics depict the Tea Party as racist hatemongers in Captain America, and we've seen DC's Superman renounce his US citizenship. Now, Marvel is taking things to a new level by revealing what The Outhouse's sources say is Mitt Romney's next campaign poster and using it as the cover for Uncanny Avengers #2.
This is a bold and underhanded move, showing that Marvel is not afraid to show their true colors (commie red). The Romney campaign likely worked for months on this image, meant to depict Romney and other key republican leaders in a positive light, ready to get out there and fight the evils of abortion, health benefits, and taxes for the wealthy. Instead, Marvel has ruined everything by associating the poster with the Red Skull and his band of Nazi S-Men, which at least half of Romney's voter base will likely find distasteful.
Shame on you, Marvel Comics. Leave politics out of our comics.
