Writer Kelly Sue DeConnick, artist Stefano Caselli, and editors Lauren Sankovitch and Tom Brevoort conducted a phone conference/liveblog to talk about upcoming issues of Avengers Assemble.
As announced last week, DeConnick and Caselli will be taking over Avengers Assemble with issue #9. Brevoort described the series as consisting of "get in, get out" adventures. They will be highlighting the Marvel cinematic characters, but will draw from the Marvel comics universe and will continue to be in-continuity.
DeConnick is interested in how modern communications (eg. the interwebs) affect the public persona of the Avengers. She's also interested in what makes brilliant people like Tony Stark and Bruce Banner different from the rest of us. She uses the movie voices in her head when she writes Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain America. The first arc is described as being sort of an "Amazing Race thing".
As for other people appearing in the title, Osborn is a maybe and "never say never" for the Vision. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will be making a cameo in the series.
The image posted representing the new creative team was initially credited to Caselli in the liveblog, but is actually a variant cover for the title by Steve McNiven (and in last week's promotional image, his signature is blocked by text). Also snubbed on the cover but making an appearance in Deconnick/Caselli's Avengers Assemble are Black Widow and Captain Marvel.
interestingly the promotional image seems to say it is part of the Marvel NOW! line.
