Marvel Releases Unfinished Iron Man #1 Preview

Marvel comics prematurely released this first look at Kieron Gillen and Greg Land's Iron Man #1 before Land had time to finish any of the backgrounds.

Many believe that Marvel has been planning their Marvel NOW! relaunch for quite some time now, possibly since shortly after last years successful DC reboot. However, this new preview of Iron Man #1 by superstar creators Kieron Gillen and Greg Land might cast those assumptions into doubt. Out of eleven panels shown in the preview, only one has an actual background. Land, a celebrated and accomplished artist, would surely never try to pass off a bunch of hastily scribbled lines, geometric patterns, and Liefeldian smoke as backgrounds, so The Outhouse has no choice but to assume this assignment was sprung on him at the last minute and he is, as we speak, rushing to complete the pages before the issue goes to print.

In the meantime, take a look at these half-finished pages. Even without the backgrounds, they're certainly polished and gorgeous. Here's the press release:
