DC Comics' Geoff Johns Coming to Michigan for Debut of First Arab-American Green Lantern

Racists are confused over what to be mad about as Geoff Johns celebrates the debut of The Ghetto Superhero (featuring Mya and ODB)!

Source: DC Comics' Geoff Johns coming to Michigan for debut of first Arab-American Green Lantern

When?: September 7, 2012

Where?: Detroit, Green Brain Comics

Who?: Geoff Johns, noted rapist of childhoods

What?: Mr. Johns will be signing copies of Green Lantern (vol. 42) #0

Why the bloody hell should I care?: Green Lantern #0 is the issue where Baz, the new Green Lantern, who the internet thought was black because of the guns, will finally be introduced.

Why are racists confused?: Not only does Baz look African-American, but he is also “the first Arab-American to be the superhero Green Lantern”

How many qualifiers did it take to make that seem special?: ~5

So is Baz black, or not?:  No, he's an Arab-American, the first to be introduced in the DC Universe.

Really? There’s never been an Arab-American in the DCU before?: Sure, why not – it’s the only way all this press makes any sense.

“Baz”?: Little Known Fact – Baz is a traditional Arabic word meaning “falcon”

Did you make that up?: No, I totally looked it up since I couldn’t think of a good joke.

So just to be clear… “Ghetto Superhero”?: He’s black and this is a story about Detroit.

I thought he wasn't black.: People thought he was, because they made racist assumptions.

Isn't what you're doing now racist?: In the sense that it's mocking the way racists think. For the record - racists are stupid.

Gotcha. “featuring Mya and ODB”?: You just made me feel very old

So is this the last we'll see of Geoff Johns?: It's possible. Very few people make it out of Detroit alive.

Who will take over his books?: That's a tough one. With Rob Liefeld gone, DC has already lost 30% of their creative talent. Scott Lobdell can only do so much.

Can I stop reading this “article” now?: Personally, I am amazed you made it this far.

RU, or as he’s known in the writers’ room: the cute one, is relatively unappreciated in his time.  RU’s YouTube show, RUviews is watched by literally multiple people every month and his Outhouse articles have helped line many a bird cage.  Before you send RU a message, he knows that there are misspelled words in this article, and probably in this bio he was asked to write.  RU wants everyone to know that after 25+ years of collecting he still loves comic books and can’t believe how seriously fanboys take them.  RU lives in Akron Ohio (unfortunately) with WIFE, ‘lilRuRu, and the @DogGodThor.  You can also find him on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, & even Google+ (if anyone still uses that).
