It appears the Thundercats aren't on the loose as rumors have swirled this Labor Day weekend that the show has been canceled. Zechs sets the record straight.
It all started last Friday when Dan Norton, the Art Director on the show, supposedly posted on the Save Thundercats Facebook page:
As of the time of this article's posting, this reporter couldn't find an actual statement other than numerous sites linking to the statement made by Mr. Norton. Even more, now someone from the fan page has posted "It's official. The new Thundercats series is CANCELED. Don't know whether to laugh or cry. Either way I knew it was going to get canned."
However, the Outhouse went right to the source and asked Mr. Norton whether the alleged facebook post was actually written by him. Norton confirmed that it was his post and that it was accurate. HOWEVER, he went further to stress the fact of his original post which seemed lost by many: "It's the same definition as what was said before. We are on hiatus. Until WB or CN comes out and says it's over I suppose that will have to do. I have moved on to another project and it would take a long time to get back on air." So there you have it. The show is STILL on hiatus, though if it is to return it may not be for quite awhile.
The news wouldn't be at all surprising, given the show hasn't shown up in any of Cartoon Network's Fall 2012-2013 line-up, and that it's toy-line, distributed by Bandai, has been put on clearance at several retail chains, a usual signal of DOOM for a kid's show. However, distributors CN and Warner Brothers still haven't officially confirmed the cancellation. As of this moment Thundercats is on hiatus.
I know this has been a never ending see-saw that's been going up and down as to whether this show has been cancelled or not. This is the second time rumors have popped up stating the show was cancelled, when in fact it wasn't. Regardless, if either or occurs this reporter will keep you updated on the situation.
