Cyclops So Evil, Now a DC Villain (Dark Knight Returns Spoilers)

In this spoiler from DC's animated adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns, we see what Scott Summers will be up to after Avengers vs. X-Men.

When Avengers vs. X-Men began, some fans were skeptical that Marvel could take one of the most beloved characters of all time, with a long history as a hero, and turn him into a complete psychopathic supervillain in less than 12 issues. However, fans didn't count on Marvel's superb storytelling efficiency, using revolutionary techniques such as completely ignoring characterization that had been perfected during events such as Civil War, which allowed the company to accomplish their objective faster than Hitler (Scott Summers' new idol) conquered Poland.

In fact, Marvel was so successful at making Cyclops into a villain that he has decided to branch out from simply remaking the Earth into a mutant dystopia, and, as this clip from The Dark Knight Returns reveals, wants to take over Gotham City as well. Cyclops, usually more of a cerebral villain,  seems to have become more physically brutal here, promising to bathe in the blood of Jim Gordon and to rip the meat from Batman's bones and suck them dry. It is unknown why Summers is so angry with Gordon and Batman, since they do not have a history as far as this reporter knows. However, it should be noted that Cyclops in the video appears to have gained weight, and his voice has become gruff and scratchy, which could indicate a drinking problem.

Scott Summers: wife abandoner. Religious fanatic. World conquerer. Racist. Alcoholic. Fatso. If he weren't so ambitious, he could probably get a job writing for Newsarama.

The Dark Knight Returns is due out on September 25.
