Now the CW Wants to Take a Shot at Putting Wonder Woman on TV

The network has lassoed former Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg to write up a pilot.

Remember when David E. Kelley was going to run a Wonder Woman TV show for NBC, and then NBC changed their mind when they saw the pilot?  Good times.  Anyway, Wonder Woman's corporate overlords at Warner Brothers want to give her another shot, and this time it could happen on a network they partially own.

Vulture is reporting that The CW, which has Arrow starting up this fall, and which ran Smallville for approximately seventy-five seasons, wants to go ahead with a Wonder Woman origin series, tentativly entitled Amazon.  They seem to be paying some attention, since they've hired veteran television and oft-times comic writer Allan Heinberg (whom Vulture mentions is the writer of Marvel's Young Avengers, but curiously fails to note that he also wrote the Wonder Woman comic for a while) to write the pilot.  It hasn't gotten any further than that yet, but we'll keep an eye on this one as it develops.

Wonder Woman was last seen on series television in animated form in Bruce Timm's Justice League Unlimited, but more famously she was played by Lynda Carter for three seasons on Wonder Woman in the late 1970's.
