Sony plans to cut prices on its handheld gaming system sometime next year.
Sony will be moving forward with its plan to cut prices on the PS Vita, but not before the 2012 holiday season. Sony confirmed the news during an Eurogamer interview with Fergal Gara, head of Sony UK. While Sony did not confirm when the cut would occur, the company acknowledged that its plan was always to drop the price of the console, which debuted to weak sales earlier this year. However, Sony has stated that the PS Vita's sales are almost in line with their company expectations, which suggests that they saw the horrendous sales coming.
Sony also mentioned that it was not pursuing 3D gaming technology at this time due to a lack of market interest and that it wasn't too concerned with the launch of the WiiU, Nintendo's new console which will be available before Christmas.
