Comixology continues to sell a ton of comics.

Comixology is beginning a countdown towards its one hundred millionth download by giving away free comics each day until the figure is met. One hundred million comics is an impressive feat, especially as Comixology had only hit the fifty million mark at the beginning of this year. So, Comixology was able to double their overall sales in nine months and matched a number that took them two and a half years to equal.
Perhaps even more impressive is how Comixology has become a rival to Diamond Comics almost overnight. We mentioned how Comixology's sales were about 20% less than Diamond's back in May; Comixology has since boosted its sales so that it's nearly matching the physical comics distributors numbers. Diamond's year to date sales as of August were about 52.2 million, meaning that Comixology's sales are lagging by just over a month. Using current sales trends, I estimate that Comixology will only sell about 5%-10% less than Diamond by year's end. Sure, a lot of that is backstock, but fifty million comics is fifty million comics.
Anyways, enjoy the free comics while you can. Yesterday was Spider-Men #1. Who knows what comic they'll give away today.
