The two British actresses are allegedly in talks to pursue the Marvel superheroine.
Captain Marvel will allegedly appear in the upcoming Avengers 2 movie, and Joss Whedon and Marvel Studios are already looking to cast the role. Emily Blunt (Looper) and Ruth Wilson (The Lone Ranger) are both reportedly in talks to play the heroine, which has also been known in the comics as Ms. Marvel, Warbird, Binary and Fauxhawk Girl.
In the comics, Carol Danvers gains a variety of powers, including superstrength, flight, and the ability to absorb and redirect energy after being caught in an explosion of alien origins. According to the Daily Mail, the role will be a substantial one, which makes sense as the character fits in with Avengers 2 alleged cosmic theme, which includes Thanos as the villain.
With Black Widow firmly established in the Marvel Movieverse and Sharon Carter to be introduced in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain Marvel would be the third superheroine to appear in Marvel's movies. If the character proves to be a popular one during her debut, it wouldn't surprise me if Marvel vets the possibility of Captain Marvel appearing in a solo film.
