Shocking and totally unexpected announcement from the DC camp.

DC announced that Scott Snyder and Jim Lee would be working on a new Superman project at NYCC today. While the title was not formally announced, it's presumed that the project is the Man of Steel series leaked by Rich Johnston several months ago.
In an interview with MTV Geek, Snyder said that the project would focus on how important the character is to Snyder and also tie into American history somehow. Snyder also said that while the project was based in the current continuity and would work in tandem with other Superman series, it would largely stand on its own. The series will also feature backups written on Snyder focusing on some of the iconic characters that make up Superman's supporting cast.
On a related note, people might want to stay away from a longhaired British fellow at NYCC this weekend. He won't hesitate to tell you how right he was and how he knew it before anyone else.
