The series will be called Threshold.
Keith Giffen will be writing a new sci-fi series for DC named Threshold, which will focus on DC's various science fiction characters. The series is spinning out of Green Lantern: New Guardians #1 and will focus on new Green Lantern Jediah Caul, along with other cosmic characters such as Blue Beetle, the Omega Men, Lady Styx and Star Hawkins. The series will also feature a backup focusing on British teen favorite Larfleeze. Tom Raney will draw the main story.
In an interview with Newsarama, Giffen said that his hope was to revitalize DC's cosmic side with Threshold as he did with Marvel's cosmic characters in Annihilation. Thanks to Annihilation, many of those cosmic characters are now being featured in Guardians of the Galaxy, an upcoming Marvel film.
Chances are this series will be replacing the struggling Blue Beetle series, which has become one of DC's lowest sellers. While the series will probably enjoy a small bump from its ties to the Green Lantern franchise, I don't see this staying above the 30k sales mark for very long.
