Vertigo announced that it would be publishing a new ten part limited series entitled Trillium, which will be written and drawn by Jeff Lemire. The science fiction series will be set in both the far future and in 1921, and will focus on a love story that will bring about the end of the universe.
In an interview with CBR, Lemire said that the series will focus on Nika Temsmith , a botanist researching plants in 3797, and William Pike, a 1921 explorer searching for a lost Incan temple in Peru. The two characters fall in love somehow despite being seperated by thousands of years, which in turn brings about cataclysmic consequences for the rest of the universe.
It should be noted that Lemire hasn't actually begun drawing Trillium due to him finishing up Sweet Tooth. That means it could be a bit before the miniseries actually gets released by Vertigo.
