The series will be SHIELD-centric.
Marvel announced that it would be publishing a new volume of Secret Avengers, written by Nick Spencer with art by Jonathan Ross. The series will feature Nick Fury Jr. (AKA Blurry), Agent Cheese Coulson, Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Black Widow, the Hulk, Taskmaster, the Winter Soldier, a new Iron Patriot and others. This will be Spencer's second run on the book; his first time on the series transformed the team briefly into a whistleblower hunting team before tying the series into the Fear Itself event.
In an interview with EW, Spencer noted that unlike past iterations of the team, which were not very secret despite its name, this Secret Avengers team would be so secret, members wouldn't even know that they were on the team. Instead, SHIELD planted memory implants would be activated when members were needed for a mission. Spencer also notes that the series will tie in the Marvel movie aesthetic into the comic universe and suggested that fans of the movies would enjoy this series.
The series will be launched in February 2013.
