Last night's episode was the most watched basic cable program of all time.
The Walking Dead must be horrifying to competitors right now. The AMC series premiere drew a record 10.9 million viewers, the most ever for a basic cable drama. This marks a whopping 50% gain from last season's opener and an addition 1.9 million from last season's finale, the previously most-watched episode of the zombie show. 7.2 million of the viewers were from the 18-49 demographic, the only demographic that really matters.
Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead, could not be reached for comment. However, it's rumored that he's completed the purchase of his home state of Kentucky and will begin barracading the state for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
