The Community mastermind's new animated series has been picked up by Cartoon Network and will premiere in 2014, but Harmon himself has been preemptively sacked.
Good news for fans of Community! The mastermind behind the cult hit, Dan Harmon, has been developing a new animated series, Rick and Morty, which is about a genius inventor grandfather and his dumb grandson. The show has been picked up by Cartoon Network to air in 2014.
The news is, perhaps, not so good for Harmon himself, however. The notoriously difficult to work with producer has reportedly been preemptively fired as showrunner by Cartoon Network. "We didn't want to take any chances," said Space Ghost, president of the network. "We had barely signed the contract when Harmon started ranting at us about Chevy Chase. Chevy isn't even on the show. It was nuts."
"Mr. Harmon will be legally compensated for his efforts," added Harvey Birdman, head of Cartoon Network's legal department. "We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors." Birdman also had some advice for the beleaguered creator. "It might not hurt to shave once in a while, and get a haircut. He looks like a crazy person."
Harmon also has live action projects in development at CBS and Fox, according to Deadline, which means he is well on his way to reaching his goal of getting fired from every major network. Good luck, bro!
