Bob Iger hinted about Disney's plan for Star Wars television shows.
During a conference call will investors today, Robert Iger confirmed that they planned to move Star Wars programming to Disney XD. although he declined to provide much detail. In the call, Iger noted the success that Marvel themed programming has had on Disney XD and stated that he believed Disney XD would be a good home for Star Wars programming as well. However, Iger declined to give any details as to what Star Wars programming would be put on the channel.
Of course, Disney's purchase of Lucasfilms will give the company plenty of options in the television industry. In addition to their Disney cable channels, the entertainment conglomerate also owns the ABC networks. Disney is currently developing a live action show set in the Marvel Universe that will air on ABC. Speculation is already hitting the web that the long-rumored live action Star Wars show could also find a home on the network as well.
However, fans of the CGI Star Wars: The Clone Wars show will have to wait to see what happens. The popular cartoon currently airs on Cartoon Network, which is owned by Disney rival Warner Bros. Coincidentally, Warner Bros. also owns DC Comics, the chief rival to Disney owned Marvel Comics.
