DC Shocker: Hellblazer Ends at #300, Replaced by New 52 Constantine Series

DC Comics is cancelling Hellblazer, the long running Vertigo series as of issue #300. The comic will be replaced by a mainstream series entitled Constantine, which will begin in February. The new series will be written by Robert Vendetti with art by Renato Guedes. That series will focus on the younger Constantine seen in Justice League Dark. For those keeping count, Constantine officially ensures that the "New 52" will remain 52 titles in February, joining Justice League of America, Katana, and Vibe.
The cancellation, as pointed out by Outhouse writer GHERU, marks the end of DC-owned properties being published by its Vertigo imprint. The Hellblazer finale will be written by Peter Milligan, whose been writing the series for several years.
We all knew it was only a matter of time before DC finally cut off the Vertigo series at the knees. The fact that it survived nearly a year and a half into DC's new integrated line-up speaks volumes about the strength of Hellblazer and its fans.
