Some big Star Wars: Episode 7 news and a lot of accompanying speculation hit the web a little while ago. Vulture reports that Michael Arndt, who has won an Oscar for Little Miss Sunshine and was nominated for one for Toy Story 3, has written a forty-something page treatment for Disney's upcoming Star Wars: Episode 7. In addition, Vulture claims that sources confirm that Disney would like to get original trilogy actors Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford to return to reprise their roles as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo, and that characters will be "much older" in the film. Presumably, the film will be set thirty to forty years after the events of Return of the Jedi, to match up with the actors real life ages. Finally, Vulture says that the scripts will be passed on to top industry directors like Brad Bird, Stephen Spielberg, and J. J. Abrams, along with, presumably, other rumored favorites like Matthew Vaughn. It is not a sure thing that Arndt will write the entire screenplay, but it is a strong possibility.
