Frankenstein: Former Agent of S.H.A.D.E. takes an unbiased look at Diamond's sales stats for October, 2012!
For many months since launch of Nu52, DC Comics beat Marvel in monthly sales battles, slowly choking life out of House of Ideas like monster hands around neck of innocent child. Last month, DC announce cancelation of Frank's book, Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E. This month, Marvel easily beats DC in sales. Coincidence? Frank think not. Is sweet, sweet vengeance.
In retail market share, Marvel beat DC Comics 35% to 31.5%. Image comics come in third with 9%, and top five rounded off by IDW and Dark Horse. Unit Market Share look similar, with Marvel ahead of DC 39.5% to 34.5%. Sales up 20% from September, and 7% from last October, which admittedly impressive since DC comics just then basking in glow of reboot plus have Frank's best selling book on market still. In year to date stats, comics industry is up 15% overall from 2011.
Marvel took five of top ten spots, as well as top two with Uncanny Avengers #1 and Avengers vs. X-Men #12, the ending of one era and the start of another. Is poetic in ways Frank not smart enough to understand. Batman #13, Justice League #13, and A+X #1 round out top five, followed by Green Lantern #13, Detective Comics #13, AvX Vs. #6, Walking Dead #103, and AvX Consequences #1. Frank attribute the dominance of Avengers vs. X-Men books to widespread reader masochism and racism against mutants.
Superman: Earth One Vol. 2 was top selling graphic novel, which will only embolden J. Michael Straczynski, who is real monster here. Brian K. Vaughn's Saga TPB took number two spot. Rest of top five was all Walking Dead. Frank proud of success of distant cousins, zombies, in both comics and television lately.
Frank expect Marvel will hold strong through end of year as Marvel NOW! books continue to roll out and DC continue to mistreat monster fanbase by withholding solo adventures of Frank. Readers invited to check out sales stats for selves and draw unreasonable conclusions about doom of industry despite clear success of both DC's Nu52 and Marvel's Marvel NOW!. Logic bad!
Here are charts, reprinted with Diamond's permission. Not that Frank need permission. Frank take what Frank wants.

About the Author - Frankenstein, Former Agent of S.H.A.D.E.
Frankenstein is the swordwielding monsterfighting monster formerly employed by S.H.A.D.E., a global agency dedicated to fighting weird stuff. Unfortunately, Dan Didio laid off Frankenstein due to low sales, and Frank quickly lost the bulk of his intelligence trying to piece together DC continuity while updating his resume. Luckily, the Outhouse's staff is largely made up of dumb beasts, and Frank is now working as an contributing reporter while he is between jobs.
