The Outhouse is joining Dara in helping run a fun contest to help promote his new Kickstarter!

Dara Naraghi, a comic book writer with work published by IDW, Dark Horse, Image and DC Comics, is working on a new graphic novel trilogy called Persia Blues that focuses on the parallel lives of a young Iranian woman, one where she travels to the United States to pursue a graduate degree and the other as an adventurer in a fantasy world which combines aspects of modern America with ancient Persia.
While the project is being published by NBM Publishing, Dara's turned to Kickstarter to help compensate his artist, Brent Bowman, and has asked the Outhouse to help promote the campaign. But it comes with a fun twist. If you click on the Kickstarter link and comment about it to the Outhouse on Twitter, on Facebook or in the Outhouse's wonderful forums, you'll be automatically entered to win an original sketch by Brent. You don't have to pledge to the Kickstarter, only give it a fair look and tell us what you think about the campaign.
We'll randomly select a winner in two weeks (December 14th). If you want to check out Brent's artwork, check his site out here. For more info, check out the official press release below and check out the Kickstarter!
DUO ANNOUNCES CREATOR-OWNED GRAPHIC NOVEL TRILOGY PERSIA BLUES FROM NBM PUBLISHING
--- Using popular crowd funding site Kickstarter until Dec. 20 to offer unique incentives to supporters ---
COLUMBUS, OH - Writer DARA NARAGHI and artist BRENT BOWMAN have co-created an epic graphic novel trilogy titled PERSIA BLUES. The complex, multicultural story features the parallel lives of a young Iranian woman, and will explore the universal themes of tradition, family, guilt, and freedom.
The series follows Minoo Shirazi from her hometown of Shiraz, Iran to the United States, in pursuit of her graduate studies. The narrative also features an additional layer, with Minoo as a free-spirited adventurer in a fantasy world, where aspects of modern America and ancient Persia meld into a unique landscape. The mystery of these two intertwined settings (illustrated in different styles by Mr. Bowman) will ultimately lead Minoo to an important discovery about her true self.
"As an Iranian-American writer, I've always been interested in exploring multicultural themes in my stories, and this series is my most ambitious and personal work to date,” Mr. Naraghi said. “Drawing the series has been a fun challenge, and I feel the research involved in depicting both modern and ancient Iran in accurate terms adds a layer of realism and depth to an already complex modern fantasy,” added Mr. Bowman.
In order to compensate Mr. Bowman for the tremendous amount of research, time, and energy he has put into drawing the book, Mr. Naraghi has turned to the crowd funding website Kickstarter.com. “Through Kickstarter, we can take our graphic novel straight to the public, and if they like what they see, they can help support it financially, in exchange for unique incentives,” said Mr. Naraghi. Backers of the project can earn such items as signed copies of the book, handwritten short stories, Persian cuisine family recipes, original pages of art from the book, and more. Additionally, there are incentive packages geared specifically towards retailers. The project can be viewed at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/922812516/persia-blues
