As mentioned in the Outhouse's Toy Shed Thread, Hasbro announced today a new line Star Wars toys; Star Wars The Black Series.
This new series will stand at 6 inches high, a larger scale than the current popular line of 3 3/4 inch high toys but smaller than the Sideshow Collectibles 12 inch scale. The Black Series is aimed at the "dad" and features more detail and articulation than its smaller brethren. The price is also aimed at dad, $19.99.
Hasbro Vice president of boys marketing Darryl DePriest says that black "is one of the main colors of Star Wars all the way back to the beginning" and that the color black evokes simplicity, essence, and focus which is "the approach that Lucasfilm has taken with their collector-oriented product line." The current vintage line of 3 3/4 inch figures will also be under teh Black Series label.
Eight figures will make up the first "wave" of figures, and will start with four: Luke Skywalker (X-Wing flight suit), R2-D2, Darth Maul, and an Imperial Sandtrooper. They should be hitting the shevles in August 2013.
