Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans upset with the casting of Megan Fox as the Turtle’s FWB BFF April O’Neil can now rejoice in the news that they have a champion. Peter Laird, co-creator of TMNT with Kevin Eastman, has come out with a less than enthusiastic response on his blog to the reported casting of Fox as O’Neil for the next TMNT film.
"My only exposure to Megan Fox as an actress is through her role in two Transformers movies and the wretched (but happily forgettable) Jennifer's Body," he wrote. "It may not be fair to judge her range of acting skills just from those three movies, but I think it is safe to say that there are probably hundreds of better choices for the role of April O'Neil."
While not quite saying “Megan Fox is gonna be April O’Neil over my cold, dead body,” it’s faint praise enough to show Laird is not too happy with the possibility of TMNT film director Michael Bay casting Fox in the role. He apparently is among the estimated 6.999999 billion people on the planet who believe Fox looks better than she acts.
It should be noted that unlike TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman, Laird is not personally involved in the film project. Which means that his opinion probably accounts for squat in the grand scheme of things. But at least Turtle fans can be happy to know that at least they’re not alone in their feelings of Fox’s involvement.
