Geoff Johns revealed that another C-list character would be making her first appearance in the New 52 this weekend, when he revealed the alternate cover of Justice League #18 on his Twitter account. The cover showed Platinum presumably attacking (or helping) the Justice League, with a caption warning readers that she was a threat to mankind. The Metal Men were previously hinted at during the Throne of Atlantis crossover.
"Hey, I like the Metal Men," said at least one person reading this article after I called them C-list characters.
This is just the latest in DC's trend of finally bringing back "fan-favorites" (although I use the term lightly in the Metal Men's cases) and established characters after 18 months of trying to force new creations down readers' throats. While I'm sure that no one will forget characters like the White Rabbit, the Dollmaker, Peraxxus, and Massacre, it's about time that DC actually dip into its playbook and try something other than the "HERO FIGHTS EXTREME VILLAIN" that we've seen so much of in the New 52.
