After evaluating our position in the games market, we've decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company's risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games. As a result of this change, we've had layoffs across the organization. We are incredibly appreciative and proud of the talented teams who have been developing our new titles.
LucasArts has been on a downward spiral in recent years, with several games that had a good buzz initially and lost steam quickly and outright failures on top of that. Their management has been changing far too often to offer them a fighting chance at rebuilding their direction. The most impressive looking game in recent years Star Wars 1313, which was debuted at last years E3, seems to have completely fallen off the radar, creating rumors the game had ceased production. Perhaps Disney will be able to rebuild the Star Wars and Indiana Jones game licenses.
