Everyone assumed this would happen, and so it is.

Ain't It Cool News got a major scoop yesterday when they announced that John Williams, who has scored not only all of the Star Wars movies, but pretty much every movie ever, would return to score Disney's upcoming Star Wars Episode 7. The scoop is even more impressive because it was apparently hardcoded into a Geocities web page back in 1997, saved to html file, and locked away until it was published yesterday afternoon. At least, we're pretty sure that's what happened, based on AICN's archaic web design.
Now, we know they're making Episode 7, and we know that John Williams is still alive, so it's pretty much a no brainer that he would score the movie, but we haven't had a good Star Wars rumor in a while and the geek media needs to fuel the unique hit machine. No word yet on whether Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play the oboe in the orchestra.
