Hollywood Reporter has published yet another rumor about an adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower series. According to the report, Imagine Entertainment, which holds the rights to the series, has secured a financial backer to adapt the first book in the series as a film, with more movies to follow if successful. Russell Crowe will allegedly play Roland in the adaptation.
You'll recall that The Dark Tower was originally pitched as a combination of movies and limited run television series, but found no backers. That concept isn't entirely dead, however, as Imagine Entertainment claims they've been approached by a investor who's willing to finance the project as originally planned.
Still, don't hold your breath people. This project has a long way to go before it hits production.
