Changes are coming for XBox, a new dashboard update will be entering beta in the summer, probably to begin preperation for the transition to their next gen console, and their points system is being ended for XBox Live.
Microsoft already began moving away from virtual currency with the rollout of Windows 8 and that will continue into the Live service as they replace it with a gift card system. Normal transactions using credit and debit cards will also be supported, but they also plan to offer a gift card voucher similar to Apple's ITunes that will use dollar values.
The new cards will also work across Microsoft's other marketplaces like the Windows Store and Phone Store. More information should follow at E3 next month.
