From the “interesting things made by people with too much time on their hands” department comes this YouTube mash-up combining the first portion of 2001: A Space Odyssey’s “Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite” sequence with a track from “Contact,” a new track from Daft Punk’s recently released Random Access Memories. This is the "Stargate" sequence where David Bowman (Keir Dulea) leaves Discovery One to investigate the Monolith orbiting Jupiter.

According to the person who made the the video “The film and song aren't edited in any way, they both play out in full duration.” The video only covers the first six minutes and twenty-four seconds of the sequence, which luckily ends before all the kind of boring stuff with Bowman growing old and turning into the Star Child fetus thing.
